Ok,
Well, I have decided to sell my 24"x9.5 wheels.
If I can find a buyer(shouldn't be difficult)
The plan is to find a really nice set of 22x9 or 22x9.5 that will allow a 14 or 16 inch break kit.
Gotta speak with Todd and confirm what set up will fit on my truck and then buy a wheel to fit the brakes....
It's a hassle, the big brake kit will look good and should be a big performance upgrade..
Let's hope for a quick local sale...

Why??
Not quite sure why a 24' wheel would not be able to fit a 16' rotor, but a 22' would....Maybe you know much more than i do?
I was never big into cars/trucks..... But being on this site... No all I think about is mod'n my truck and what is next...
Soon this will be almost as bad as my motorcycle issues...lol
Good thing, the money tree is still rockin....lol
The 24" wheel has a deep lip so the spokes on the wheel bend into it, which causes clearance issues and won't allow a larger than stock rotor/caliper...
And if I'm gonna change the wheels, having a larger side wall with a 22" is more ideal for the type of mods I am doing...

Why??
Don't get me wrong, I love your ride (I actually voted for it). Many of us here have the mod bug, me the first (well BDP first ok, ok lol).
I was just wondering why you wanted to spend about what 6K$ on brakes alone. They look nice for sure, but isn't it expensive for just the look? I would understand if someone would bring his car to the track, but that won't be your case... So I was just wondering why.
I always found that mod very expensive and can't justify it for me, so I would appreciate what motivates you. Even if you have the money, there are a lot of things that can be done before that (in life or on the truck)...
That is a friendly question and by no mean a judgement... The heck, have I not spent a lot on my 2010 and I am doing the same on this new one too and I could be doing so mNy other things with that monaey, but you're right, this forum is a bad/good influence ;)
... and while at it: 22-24" rims and tires must be another 3-6K$?
So that's about 10k$ just for wheels and brakes for a truck that won't be going racing on a circuit...
But it surely looks good! Lol cool!
I would start with better pads. Softer pads create dust but will definitely help stopping, like the Stop Tech pads I have on the front. Much cheaper alternative. Many times better brake systems only help when you are repeatedly braking, like in autocross. For instance... The Pontiac G8 GXP came with Brembo fronts and their initial stopping distance was slightly longer from 60. But after a couple panic stops they were far better at eliminating fade. I have never experienced any brake fade at the strip with my Flex, and at times have made as many as 10 runs in an hour when it wasn't busy.
It could also be the size of the wheel causing braking issues.
Depends on how heavy they actually are of course.
But a bit more weight around the barrel creates significant inertia differences that the brakes must overcome, so it will seem like they are less efficient and indeed they are. I think it isn't necessarily the weight of the wheel, but may be the weight of the barrel of the wheel itself.
I felt this when I went from my 18's to my 20" Foose setup on my 2010, but felt it much LESS when I went from 18's to forged 3 piece wheels on my 2013. I think it is because the forged barrel is much lighter than a cast wheel barrel, even though the 22's weigh more overall. This is just a theory though.
You could go 24's but consider a forged barrel option, to get the best of both worlds. OR go 22 and do the same, maybe.
I take no offense to anyone's question. The simple answer is this.... I love the look and I have the money. Im very fortunate and it's not an either or thing...I just like to enjoy my money while I am alive... As long as my bills are paid, kids college funds paid into, and plenty of money going into savings.... I say enjoy some of that money too...
Thx
Do you need an assistant?
I have a "GEEZER FUND" that could use some extra cash... I never have enough money!!!! LOL!
Sorry guys, I have a wife and three girls.... I can't afford anymore dependents...lol
I did have the 6K HID's for the head and fog lights done today along with all interior replaced with LED's..
Looks really nice...
Can't take it with ya, enjoy the ride bro!!!
Lighting upgrades are a neat way to customize the look of your vehicle :) Any pics?

I went with The TCE Wilwood Brake Kit for TWO reasons , Yes because it LOOKS Great , but also because aftermarket pads and rotors will not even come close to giving the braking Power that a true BIG BRAKE KIT can deliver on . Yes its a big investment but not 6K, more like $4500.00.

Then I think a test should be in order. Lets see how many feet $4500.00 gets you. I'd bet upgraded stock pads, rotors, and some lightweight wheels will do the same (maybe better) for much less cash.
This only applies to 2013+ though. 2010-12 brakes were garbage.

It all boils down to this....
I'm not looking for the most bang for my buck or a budget... First, it will LOOK Great! Second, it has performance increases...(no matter how big or small, compared to stock or not) Last, if you have the $$$, then why the hell not!!
Don't want to sound like an ***hole, I'm not rich but I do well... And everyone's perception of what a lot of $$$ is, is controlled be their own financial situation...so what's a lot of money to me, might be change to someone else..
So let's all enjoy the hard earned money spent by others and see how the mod turns out...you might be next on the list..
What DVD sets did you go with? Were they replacement headrest everything built in or did your shop custom install them?
I checked two places locally and one was no help at all while the other had only a single option to pick from. They wouldn't do any custom installs just the replacement units.
What ever happened to doing custom jobs? Maybe it's just my area. =[
I'm not sure what brand. I'll have to check. They were not custom. They were bought as replacements.
So far they are very nice and no issues.
Parts rolling in....

Last box from wilwood. Just need some brackets and hoses and I'm all set.
New wheels arrive Thursday for a test fit with tires then off to powder and final install next week.
All smiles today..
C'mon wheels! :pokey:
Should be nice! I like the black calipers.
When I got my rotors and saw the black finish I thought COOL .....
DUH !!! I didn't realize it was a protective finish ... Wish they could be anodized black...
Make sure you bed the pads properly ... Makes the most God Awe full Noise bedding them till you get the finish off !!
Wheels came in today and we did a quick test fit before they go to powder coat.
Fit is great.

Looks like its the same as the sho.
Thanks for the update and pics. I'm not a fan of black wheels unless they have machined rims but I love how those spokes are laid out.
Those wheels are MONEY, and will look BIG MONEY after the powdercoat :thumb:
Please be sure to take some shots of the new rim/tire combo from BOTH the front, and the rear, so as to show not only the amount of "meat" resting on the pavement, but also how they sit in relation to the body lines.
Those side shots of your test fitment are nice, but give us all the angles when they come back from powder coating puhleeze.... :ok:

What's the weigh of those bad boys?
Will definitely get plenty of pics when installed.
They are wide ass hell..
Not sure on the weight, but definitely lighter the m 24's...
Looks the same as the SHO .... Dust coverplates behind stock rotors will need to be removed before B/B Wilwood Kit install .... Like the wheels !!
Wheels set to install Wednesday... As long as they are back from powder tomorrow.
I will post pics Wednesday night if all goes well. And my current wheels are already sold...
Good progress. Hope your schedule works out.
Can hardly wait to see the picks. Very interested in stepping up to 22's myself.
Brakes to come later?
Rotors and calipers are in hand. Should have brackets and plumbing next week while I'm away.
Thinking install week of 12/2.. And also awaiting possible parking brake option...
God damn wheel guy(my friend) called me this morning to tell me how "Sick" the wheels look in their new color... And won't send me a damn pic..lol
Now I gotta wait till 2pm when i can get there for the install...
Gonna be a long day..
I will have pics posted by 6.

No rubbing at all.. Wheels look so wide from behind.. And there is a big difference in comfort from the 24's and I am pleasantly surprised at how much Faster/Responsive it feels...
I didn't think the power/responsiveness would be soooo noticeable !!
Very happy camper...
Also, Vossen contacted shop and might do a photo shoot for the website...

Truly awesome! BIG footprint. Powder coat is the perfect choice. They eclipse the ones on your ROTM build. Way to go! Also good to hear that the reduction in rolling diameter made a significant improvement in the performance.
OMG! What a good looking truck you got there! Sick ride :)
Great pix, BMC, your ride sits just right now, great visual impact.
Looks much better with a little more sidewall.

I think it looks much better with these rims! I've always felt that there is a certain sidewall to rim size that is visually appealing and this strikes a perfect balance!
Nice looking! What color were wheels before powdercoating? Painted or polished?
If I get a sport, I would get your color. Wheels/Tires look like BMW X-5 from the rear!!!! Love it!

The only color vossen makes these in is a painted silver flake. It's very nice, but I like the darker side..lol

I checked them out... on several sites. The R.R. of wheels!
Thx man.
I'm happy with them both in look and performance so far..
Plus, I'm not likely to run into anyone with a set of these on an explorer or this color..
On to the next project..
Ride looks amazing!!! I was very close to getting those same wheels and leaving them silver since i have a silver ex but the wife was not fond of the idea at the time.
Now i'm returning another set of wheels i bought and getting "Silver" lol, TSW Interlagos.
All of a sudden now she likes the idea of silver, haha.

Hahahaha
My wife wouldn't let me buy her a new car this week because she didn't like the "look" of the air vents on the interior....
So instead, I have buying out her current lease..which is the 2011 model of the same car.
Oh well... Saved me some money
Air vents can be a big distraction, in looks & functionality. Sad to say, I do understand where your wife is coming from, BMC!
Glad to see I'm not the only one dealing with The "house commander" and her decisions. :wall:
Oh yeah...gotta keep the "Boss" happy..
I learned a long time ago, not to argue with her logic.
Just keep her happy and then I'm happy. Lol
To be honest, i hated your old wheels.
These are quite stunning!
Congrats!
We need in motion pics!
All big brake parts are in.. Install set up for Wednesday...
Gonna start a new thread for the brake install..new billet pedals will be in on Monday.. So I guess both will get installed then...
Anxious for the pics. I also love those performancepedals you found!... they don't list the 2013 SHO in the ordering though. :wounded:
I'd have them and the foot rest in a heartbeat!
More pics, more eye candy :thumb:
I will have a bunch of pics on Wednesday
I contacted performance pedals (http://www.performancepedals.com/fordpedals/fordtauruspedals.html (http://www.performancepedals.com/fordpedals/fordtauruspedals.html)) 'cuz I really like them. Rick responded in about 8 hours, pretty good (I contacted them about 10pm MST). For the Taurus the sets are 4 piece including the left side foot rest. They even do a heel rest. I love the black powder-coated grid with polished countersinks! Here's the response:
Hi Rick,
I have a 2013 Taurus SHO with automatic transmission.
I am interested in purchasing a 4 piece pedal set in Black Anodized grid with silver countersinks. I don't see it listed on the site. Do you offer this model and if so, is there a matching emergency brake pedals.
Thanks,
Tom

They sent detailed instructions on how to measure with pics. I will be doing this so they can develop them and ordering a set! :thumb: Hope it doesn't take too long...
They offer pedals for most ford cars and trucks if anyone else is interested. Even appeal to old farts like me... :wheelchair:

Well I was wrong... They are a 40 offset.
Awesome, thanks man! Truck looks great, and I love the matte graphite color.
Well,
I decided to revive this thread.... The truck is heading in for a major(top secrect, not really) mod on Tuesday. While in for this mod which should be done by Friday, I am having the new brakes and summer tires thrown on. I have one other Mod that will be done at same time pending fitment.. Details to follow...
With all that said.... I Blame Lanson for this next mod....lol
Well, I have become very good friends with the manager at the shop that has done my wheels, brakes and so on. While talking today about our game plan for this week..... He drops the bomb on me...... I'm not sure if I'm lucky or just too easy..
He laughed and said the audio is the last thing I needed.. I said, I wanted to do it, but I wanted to wait and see if I could get a crazy deal on parts for it...
Dumbass...... He smiles and laughs at me..
He offered me his JL discount, which means, I would have to buy full system of speakers, amps and wiring from JL. The catch is he has to pay for it in his name and I would have to pay him cash... No big deal.. I will get the entire lot if JL equipment for 70% retail price!!!!!!
He is putting together my package on Tuesday with everything we need and if it really is that deep, it's done!!
I wasn't planning any more mods for a while.... But this would be too good to pass up...
I will update my build thread with parts list if and when I confirm the deal.

It is a custom set up from Todd at TCE performance brakes.
