Title: Edgewater Sports Park Drag Test and Tune (March 4th!)
Post by: derfdog15 on February 24, 2017, 11:45:29 AM
I'm planning on taking the SHO out to Edgewater on March 4th for test and tune (from noon to 5pm) weather permitting.

http://www.edgewaterrace.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=40&Itemid=146 (http://www.edgewaterrace.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=40&Itemid=146)

Anyone else planning on going? Would be nice to have a few other SHOs out there!

Outskirts of Cincinnati OH (Cleves OH).

I'm trying to get to the track ASAP before it gets too warm out, so I can take advantage of boost weather :D

Should be ~55 deg on the 4th (hopefully).

Hoping for a 12.2 or better on the current tune (with 14.5 spring in the wastegate regulator). Then I'll up the spring in the boost regulator and run again another time, and see what changes. I really want a 1:1 1/4 mile vs. Dyno comparison.

Good luck to you as well once tracks open up. I saw in your other thread you guys still have snow, etc. Its literally been mid 50s for the last week and a half here.

I need to start getting more sleep haha!

Hopefully the weather here holds up, I can hook pretty well and the cooler air helps IATs.

Looks like it'll be mid 50 degree weather and clear and dry!

That is true, see if the downpipes, stat, airaid, wastegate mod, and axlebacks on E20 can make up for the added spark (and boost? - not sure if you still run 17psi or are back at 15psi).

If you decide you're going out send me a PM and ill send ya my # so you can find me lol, otherwise I should be able to find the bronzefire SHO pretty easy :D

Betting two mid to low 12 SHOs would really get some panties in a wad, based on my last time out at Edgewater and the reactions I got

Lots of V8 guys (Mainly dodge lol) either talked crapped prior to my runs and then didn't look at me after I ran, or were shocked it was just tune, CAI, and axlebacks (claiming I did something else that I wasn't telling them)

Sorry to hear that Z. I'm betting he was already considering going to Edgewater since its the first race day of the season, and the track is in OH as is he, though IDK how close he is.

Hopefully I'll see him out there, from his logs that I've seen in the past E30 makes me drool a bit :D

That sucks. I checked the forcast earlier, and it had dropped ~10 degrees for tomorrow so its understandable. Sunday is supposed to be a bit above 60 degrees.

Gotcha. I really need to get in a run ASAP so i can hopefully utilize the cool air for my next set of passes as well (when I increase wastegate spring pressure on the regulator)

I called out my plant manager here at work.. 13 5.0 mustang 6 spd. Makes 400/400 to the tire..plus a 75 shot. The car is faster than mine, but he never drove a stick car at the track..

Nice! the AWD will definitely help you out of the hole, unless he has a nice suspension setup. Should be able to take him out of the hole, and keep the gap even if he reels you in a bit once he gets moving out. Will be close for sure, since you are likely making more torque than him to the wheels.

I bet that's actually a hell of a race...if he is perfect i say he wins....but my money is on you....I guarantee he will miss a shift if its stock shifter.....the radials have me worried...if he is good he can launch with you

The shifter in the stang sucks bad...the nice thing about your auto is how it accelerates through the gear and you never lift....he will pull harder than you but have a big disruption in momentum when he shifts

EFF his rustang or moosestang or whatever he calls it...donkey?

Not a stock shifter, I'm gonna toast him off the line...just gotta be able to hold the line long enough once I get the jump. I thought about taking some weight out, but I'd rather race full street weight

Screw pulling your interior, blend up to E30 and throw a bunch of spark at it.

Screw pulling your interior, blend up to E30 and throw a bunch of spark at it.
Does it make more power? Have you had yours on the dyno?

No dyno, but there is a noticeable difference.I have to run in track mode now because the car just rapes sport mode. Power everywhere and she never feels like she runs out of breath.

Our ECM calculates torque all day long, all you need is a functioning DMR and it will tell you about it. Unlike a dyno I can graph my power curve with the other 39 pids and DMR's.

I called out my plant manager here at work.. 13 5.0 mustang 6 spd. Makes 400/400 to the tire..plus a 75 shot. The car is faster than mine, but he never drove a stick car at the track..

Yeah that dmr thing would be awesome, but for whatever reason (my fault or the something else) can't get it to work. I think if everyone used the torque dmr, we could really figure out what the best way to make power is by comparing everyone's results..
Do u check your ethanol content coming from the pump? I just ordered a tester, wanna make sure I have all the power I can get when I race this mustang.

I completely agree, the ECM would be our best apples to apples torque comparison, along with timeslips.

I don't check E content. My supplier is very consistent and log data can tell a lot, like if you screw your blend calculation. Sometimes playing fast and loose can lead to positive developments.  :)

Well I am no log expert by any means, I would love to learn more but I just don't have the time to dedicate to it. Between work and life with a 5 year old who is starting sports and a 2 year old, not much left

Well , my plant manager took out a cam while racing an sti in his ml63...the 13' mustangs clutch is squeaking ( I think he is afraid to lose to a grandpa car). So at this point I'm gonna race his g8... we will see if he even shows up..
