Title: Measured exhaust back pressure today
Post by: Gray Brick on June 25, 2016, 11:44:14 PM
Today I installed a pressure sensor in place of my bank 2 O2 sensor.

I was surprised see a peak of 15psi in the exhaust with a peak boost of 21.

This is with a tune, meth, and 3" catless downpipes.
The rest of the exhaust is stock.

I think I will be installing a 2.5" X-pipe in place of my 3rd cat to lower this back pressure for hopefully a little more power.

That's pretty cool...Wonder how much your exhaust mod will help.....Although I think one of the best things to know would be the pressure ratio...Would be awesome to know what the pressure is in the exhaust manifold before the turbo

I would love to know if we are approaching the dreaded 2:1 ratio at 15 pounds of boost

Any suggestions on tapping into this?

FYI...

The GTR stock back pressure is 5-6 psi max. (Mine is almost triple)
With a more free flowing exhaust it usually runs in the 2-3 psi range.
