Title: Meth Injection flow-based failsafe worth it?
Post by: Brewineer on March 26, 2019, 05:57:19 PM
I'm trying to pick a meth kit for my SHO and am agonizing over getting a flow based failsafe.

I've read a lot of great things about the Alky Controls kit, and it can be installed behind the bumper instead of the trunk.

AEM's flow rate failsafe device could be added to that for another $275, though the reviews are pretty bad for the reliability of the system, so I'm hesitant.

Aquamist HSF-3 has a integrated turbine based flow meter as a standard part of the system. It can use Fuel Pressure in addition to MAP for mapping the injection curve. Also it utilizes a PWM controlled valve for producing linear flow rates.

The Aquamist seems like a great deal and is about the same price as the Alky Controls system.
Sadly, the warranty is voided if you install the pump outside the cabin or trunk.

Subsequently:

1. Are flow-meter based fail-safes worth it or not all that necessary? are there other good failsafe methods to use?
2. Is FRP and MAP based injection a big advantage over MAP only based injection?

I guess it should be noted that this is for a DD and I want something reliable long term that is relatively low maintenance.

All I can say is "Alky all the way"!  Yes, pumps do need to be rebuilt every few years, can't avoid that.  As to that failsafe, Julio will def give you good guidance, as will many DD members here who cavort with meth injection :D

Yep, same here. Alky-Controls, and it's owner Julio, have been nothing short of incredible when it comes time for questions, and/or guidance on its' systems respective use.

Yet alone the quality of the kit overall, in comparison to fellow competitors.

Alky-Controls, and it's owner Julio! just put it on my ride and getting Julio on the phone is super easy. even if you have to leave a message he will get back very soon. I have not had a pump go down but I plan on replacement of the pump every year as just a maintenance item for the price of it. and keeping the other pump is stock for the rotation.

Hmm.The last time I spoke to Julio he recently did an Alky kit install in the trunk area compartment IIRC!
Customer service is Top notch and second to none IMHO.
Oops that reminds me need to send the old pump back for rebuild! Z
