Is there an easy way to detect this knocking? An app?

I bet you could see the LSPI event in your TQ app.  I have seen a couple videos of what it sounds like.   I personally have not heard or had major knock events.  Most of my hard pulls are data logged and I see very little to no knock.

Good question.  If the frequency wave produced by LSPI is the same as "regular" knock, then yes it will be picked up by the PCM/software apps.  Otherwise no.  Since the timing determination is knock driven, in the absence of detection, there would be no effect on timing, assuming a response would not be futile anyway.

If you can load a tune into a SCT device, you can data log.  I have worked with Brad and he has helped me look into what exactly we are seeing in the logs.  If the fuel pressure is stable, you have good fuel and oil, have little to zero knock, and everything seems okay during the pull...you are good.  I like to see what my car is doing in all temps.  Just this year I will have pulls with 3 different fuels, in varying temps (50 degrees to 115 degrees), during varying conditions.  The more knowledge you have, the better you are off.

No you misunderstood me I know how to data log just fine. I also know what to look for. I'm just to flipping lazy to do it when I get on it lol. I usually only log when at the track or before I'm going. Then I send it to Brad for adjustments. I'm scared to leave my sct in my car after having everything stolen out of it last year.

I am completely ridiculous when it comes to data and safety systems.  I have a LiveWire that stays in my SHO at all times.  It shows all my data live and I have alarms built into the PIDs if something goes out of perimeter.  I put it high in my windshield behind my limo tint banner. It is hard to see even if the windows are down.  I also have limo tint all the way around the car, and I put a sunshield in the windshield when it gets parked regardless of night or day.  You cannot see into my car unless you physically break one of my windows.

Tint keeps the car cooler, keeps honest people honest, and gives me privacy.

That's a pretty good idea maybe I'll look into a live wire. I use the bdx to tune. I know it has gauge set ups but not like the live wire. My windows are tinted as dark as NH laws will allow. I hate not having tinted windows. Unfortunately in NH you are not allowed to have tint on front driver or passenger windows. I've gotten one to many tickets for it. I'm a marked man lol.

I don't get messed with because I live in AZ, and if I did, I would just keep paying the tickets regardless.

Yea it's all fun and games until I had to go to court for it. Let's just say the cops in my town and I don't get along well. In NH they consider it a non moving violation. But it gets grouped like texting on your phone. I got tired of dealing it with in court. Along with me never running a front plate.

I don't get those "violations" .  Same here in VT.  I do however do all my tinting myself so I will take it off if need be...then I slap it back on.  Probably a benefit of not driving the car daily is I get away with it much longer.

Whenever I have been pulled over for either, front tint, license plate cover or tinted taillights....its always the only reason I'm getting pulled over, and sometimes it includes a police cruiser high speed U-turn and chase me down...for a licence plate cover?  My train of thought is...if you can pull me over all the same with or without these visual mods...what impact does it have on anything?  U still pulled me over all the same.

It should be secondary...if I'm speeding or doing something unsafe...but if I'm not doing anything...it shouldn't justify stopping me.

Also it is loosely enforced from town to town, officer to officer.  And from state to state its ok and not ok.

One thing I started doing last year is if I get pulled over...i roll ALL of my windows down.  That way they can see all of the interior of the car...makes them feel safer.  Advise from another officer and ive been thanked for it.
