New long block, high fan run times..

So I have the new long block in, it seems smooth as glass.  But my paranoid brain thinks the cooling fans are on too much.   Here in Oregon it's 54' and about 75% humdity... But my fans are almost always on.  I found the overflow cap loose and tightened it... But is there any special prep for the water pump when the block is installed ... The fan is 90-100% almost all the time I stop and listen for it.  Will hook up the sct tool later.

So is there any special water pump steps before block installation?

What's everyones oerating temps for water and cylider heads.

Ty in advance.

If A/C is on whether for cooling or removal of humidity, fans will run.  If they both run at startup at ambient with A/C off, then fan failure might have occurred.

No special prep for WP.

I cycled the AC SWITCH a number of times.  I have not been on the highway yet so I need to try that and pull over rapidly and check fan status.  Just unsure.   I will check fan status on cold start in a little while..

Definitely overheating.  On the freeway at 65mph it climbed to 265, and the temp guage started swinging g up.

Interesting bit, letting off the gas drops the temp 20 degrees for about 10 seconds..

I think there is air in the system for sure.. but I also think there's another temp issue as well because at 2500-3000 rpm it should flow enough to offset it.

:o  something wrong with the install.  The dealer needs to fix it.  Hopefully just needs a burping, like you said.  If the level in the reservoir dropped any after you let it cool down, that would lend support.

day 3, no word back from mechanic.

My guess... the remanned block is bad, has issues with the cooling jackets.  calling today in about 3 hours to poke the bad-news-bear.

Criminey!

If my 'car' were a solid lead brick,  as in a literal brick... it would have a bad motivator, keep luke at the farm, kill obi-wan, maul kittens and burst into flames.

Yup, good news, hope that's it.  Another 50 miles to the 1st oil change, cutting open the filter.  Then 300 more miles to the next oil change.. cut open that one too... Then 1100 miles to go.

The 1st 400 are still planned to be under 3000 rpm.
