Look at the TBN on conventional SN certified Pennzoil. TBN is one way to cover a weaker base stock as well. So if it is combined with a strong base stock like PAO or Ester, you can end up with an exceptional product. Though nothing is invincible

Also keep in mind as things progress, oils are moving to less detergent and less anti-wear additives. Amsoil is no exception. Probably to accommodate upcoming SN PLUS requirements, but more to address the widening reach of GDI and boosted applications. Less is more etc w regards to LSPI.
