The good old P0016 code

Somewhere I read in here that oil viscosity can effect the VTACs or the signal to them ? I could be confusing it with another part of the "timing system".

Maybe replace the other one since they are not too expensive ?

Sometimes it actually IS the cam position sensor.  I would look into that.  Hopefully just dirt in the connector, but a relatively easy fix also if replacement is required.  Most times, P0016 is correlated with timing chains/rest of the timing system on that side of the engine.  But in the absence of rattles, I would look to the CPS.

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

Ok.   Does anyone know where this camshaft positioning sensor may be located?  Its a bank one code, so closest to firewall.  That's the side I changed the VTAC solenoid.  Checked the plug for the solenoid and all looked good.

Well it looks as if I would need to remove the timing chain and all anyways, as they are the phasers that are the sensor or something...   I dunno.  Damn it.....

The CPS are on the air intake side of the engine, on the side of the engine basically just underneath the valve cover flange.

Removal and Installation (2010 SHO manual, but should be same for your Flex)

Both sensors

Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL) outlet pipe and the ACL . For additional information, refer to Section 303-12 .
RH sensor
Position the RH turbocharger intake tube aside. For additional information, refer to Intake Air System Components — Exploded View in Section 303-12 .

LH sensor
Position the LH turbocharger intake tube aside. For additional information, refer to Intake Air System Components — Exploded View in Section 303-12 .

Both sensors
Disconnect the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor electrical connector.
Remove the bolt and the CMP sensor.
To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
NOTE: Lubricate the CMP sensor O-ring seal with clean engine oil.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Sadly anything Flex EB related is gone from Ford/dealer sites, so I cannot snatch a diagram from there to show the layout ...

So to confirm the rear valve cover needs to be removed to access the Bank 2 solenoid!  Z

Great!!  that helps a lot!!!   I will have to check that connector as well before changing.  I am only getting bank one so I will see what I can come up with.  THANK YOU!!!
