So I have a new to me 2015 SHO.

I want to know should I go with SP534 gapped at .030 or go with SP542 gapped at .030? The SP542 is one step colder supposedly.

The vehicle has 39k miles and I doubt they have been changed by the previous owner.

I plan to get a tune in the near future. Any advice helps. Thanks.

If your still under warranty would stick with the OEM Motorcraft/NGK-SP-534 IMO.
How many miles on your SHO? thanks.  Z

I have 39k on it.

Spoke to Livernois and they rec'd the SP542 gapped at .030.

Also have a drop in filter on the way for it as well.

I usually say to follow your Tuners recommendations!
I'm assuming your purchasing them directly from LMS correct?
Best of luck. Z
I'm not quite sure which plugs LMS installed on mine. Z  :hmmm:

Ignition Timing
Advancing ignition timing by 10° will cause the spark plug tip temperature to increase by approximately 70° to 100°C.
A colder heat range spark plug may be necessary if the ignition timing has been advanced to near the knock level. Higher cylinder temperatures near the knock level will bring the spark plug firing end temperature closer to the pre-ignition range.

I have the NGK 6510s gapped at 0.026 on AJPturbo tune.  Alot of people on the Facebook pages recommend 0.28 - 0.026 gaps.

Brad hasn't told me this isn't a good idea and the car runs great, so I'm running with NGK 6510s @ 0.026

93 tunes should be fine.

Corn and meth tunes running the big spark would probably benefit.

Are these people on the FB pages running S** tunes or Unleashed or LME or BCB or ...?

Matt Robinson at Gearhead told me 0.026 and Torrie told me 0.028 when I bought the plugs from him.  I told Brad as I am on AJP now and he didnt say not to do it and my datalogs do not show any issues with it.  Other than some rare false knock spikes from a chaffed knock sensor, the car drives perfect, even more so since I installed the MSD coils.

Btw, anyone know the procedure or where the literature is to replace the global knock sensor?

I have seen some guidance on tighter gaps; I believe its not performance related, but rather in case the gap relaxes and widens it'll stay in the gap rage that helps the most
