What do you consider fast?

What do you consider fast for a street car? 13 second car? 12.5 second car? 12 second? Faster? Or do you measure in 0-60 on the street?

Curious people's opinion?

Anything that kicks me back in my feet enough for me to question he driver's abilities. I really think anything faster that a 13 second quarter mile is kicking it pretty dang fast

Such a loaded question!

I'd say 11's is a fast daily driver, but not a fast street car.  There's a LOT of 10 and 9 second Mustangs, Camaros, Vettes, GTR's, Porsche's, Lambo's, even WRX, EVO...heck even Civic's.  Those are "street" cars, but not a lot of them are truly driven daily.  They are more just nice weather/weekend rides with full working factory equipment.

I'm leaving out the 6 and 7 second "street" cars that run in the actual fastest street car races.  There are plenty of 7 second cars that are licensed and have street equipment.  However, I wouldn't consider them street cars despite my buddy's claim that his 2,000+ hp fox body is a "street" car.  Something about crawling through a funny car cage and loading the intercooler that's replaced the passenger seat with ice makes it not street to me.

Ha! I have intentionally left this one open. Like I said, just curious what people think and where they go with it.

I think this also depends greatly on where you live.  In my small town, my 12 second Lincoln is faster than 95% of the vehicles.  When I visit my parents in South FL, my car is truly slower than most of the trucks headed to the boat ramps with fishing boats.  Not to mention the toys they have back at home.

When I went to Palm Beach International Raceway on a test & tune night I had the fastest Lincoln, but it was way slow compared to the sea of Hellcats, Mustangs, Vettes, CTS-V's etc.  Most of them were running 10's on good passes.  I beat every car I lined up against, but I was in the slow lanes.  The fast lanes were still mostly actual street cars and they were flat out moving.

Well, I tell people this. My car isn't fast, but you certainly can't claim to be "Fast" if you can't out run my family sedan. Usually works out. There is always someone faster. Racing outside of a class with rules, and even then to a point, is he with the most money wins. I enjoy my car for what it is. The best thing to me about these cars are the kids that point and laugh at me when I am putting my helmet on. Then 99% of the time, they get taken to gap city. Our cars are quick, but the only one I would consider approaching "FAST" is Mike.

i guess i think of it a little differently. i feel fast is relative to the cars you encounter on the actual street day to day. you can say these cars aren't that fast compared to all the cars that run 11's or faster but even if those cars are street cars they're weekend warriors and very rarely someone's DD.
i can honestly say i've never lost a street race on the SHO. i've had a couple stretches where we were dead even but no one has ever gapped me in the  SHO. and if someone in there DD can gap the SHO I can pretty much guarantee they paid at least double what I did for my car or have dumped a lot of money in mods into there car compared to my "tune only" car that i can still take in for warranty work.
so i do consider the SHO to be fast for a literal street car that i can drive 365 days a year. and to boot, i've beat cars at the track that got trailered in.
. . in the eye of the beholder

Reminds me of me of what I say about guys' height.  I am short (5'8"), so if you are shorter than me, you are definitely short!
I consider my tuned SHO quick for a street car.  I have only been beaten bad once and that was a C7 Z06 that I was just happy I actually provoked a race from.  I think time has to be considered too. A 13 second car ~15 years ago was really scooting, I remember when 300 hp and hitting 60 in the 5's was very impressive outside of the high high end like F1's, F40's, 959's etc.  My brother had a '97 Trans Am and that was one fast car in my eyes.  Now I talk to him about it, and I would walk him. My younger brother has a 2008 C6 with 450 whp running low 11's, and he was certainly impressed by the SHO launching. He said it wasn't quite the tunnel vision his gives him on drag slicks, but not bad. Now days, naturally aspirated Nissan Maxima's have 300 hp and hit 60 under 6 seconds.

I kinda think the type of car comes into play for me. For example, my wife's Lancer is probably the slowest car I've ever driven, but maybe put a turbo and a tune on it and it would be fast for a Lancer. It would still get its doors blown off by an Evo, but it would be faster than most Lancers around here. I would consider my car fast for a family car, but its really only quick compared to some other street cars. My favorite reaction at the track was from an LS1 Trans Am driver saying "I thought you'd get me off the line, but I didn't expect you to keep pulling on me". I have to agree with sholxgt also.

oh, our cars aren't slow. I'm just saying we aren't going to a cash days in Memphis or some city that the scene is big in and winning anything. We will get ROFLstomped. I love my SHO. EVEN more so now that AJP has done his magic to the car and the downpipes I just installed. The car is AMAZING. They are FAST for what they are. Dollar for Dollar, I haven't found a platform that responds how our cars do. They are amazing machines. I personally think Mike's SHO would absolutely destroy on the street. Also the person's quote of the fact most of us are DD'ing our cars also brings up a good point. I race two to three times a month. Car has 94k miles on it. I have not had a single issue outside of normal maintenance. I check the to make sure nothing is leaking every 3-5k miles when I do my fluid changes. I go a bit extreme with those. I drain fill the trans every time I change my oil. I feel it's easier to change some fluid than a transmission. I think in today's world though, FAST is 10.99 for the most part. 12.99 is quick. 13.0 + is average.

I used to think 12's was pretty fast then I got my V and went 10's with minimal mods and DR. Then I wanted 9's, if it weren't for the spray bar coming apart would have ran mid 9's in the high 140's pretty easily. New setup should run mid 8's and I can't wait to get to that level. :)
Hoping to have the Tremor in the 9's in the next year as well, we'll see how that goes. :)

For a true DD, I think a loaded up SHO or similar performing car fits the bill, comfy and mid to low 12s, maybe squeaking into 11s seems like a good compromise.

For a "street car" aka drag stang, etc. that is still semi-street legal id go low 11's/high 10s or better.

I think it also depends on the baseline car you compare to/the baseline version of the same car. ie. a stock sho is a 14 second car, so a modded SHO at 12.5 is a 1.5 second gain in the 1/4 and mostly all in the low end.

A base 03 V6 mustang is somewhere in the 15s stock, that same car in the low 12s is a bit more of an acomplishment and will feel faster compared to stock, even though it may be just as fast as the sho but if you remember the starting point and compare to current it will impact the comparison.
