Driver's seat issues

So I've noticed a few issues with my driver's seat recently. From what I've been told, the passenger seat works perfectly, but I haven't sat in it to confirm.

First off, I have no cooling function on the seat back, it only seems to cool the seat bottom. Heat works perfectly fine everywhere. Filters are clean and clear. Thoughts?

Second, my seat memory function only seems to remember the tilt angle of the back of my seat, it won't adjust the base at all (forward/back, up/down, or bucket angle. Thoughts?

I had a few issue with the seat position memory AND the #$%^ing air bags in the lumbar.  no matter what i did the car would auto-inflate the lumbar to max.  it would also not relocate the seat back to the forward position.

my fix was muttering obscenties and using >*LIGHT amounts*< of CRC contact cleaner on the harness underneath with the battery disconnected.

if you use to much CRC cleaner it will drip on your carpet .. and stink for days.. (did this in error on a g35 i had)

After a few treatments from one day to the next it finally started working to reset the seat position..  either from the act plugging and un-plugging.. or the rcr ate something finally.

the air bag keep inflating no mater what so i became annoyed enough i fixed it with a thin BBQ skewer.

I would Check the Fuses/relays inside the (SJB) that corresponds to the seats/Tilt feature and try swapping them with the same amperage fuse relay,sometimes moisture,corrosion can have an adverse effect.
FWIW you can always try removing the ground(negative)cable from Battery for 30 min to see if it helps any. Z

Resurrecting this thread a bit, I'm finally getting back to being able to work on my car after surgery, so I decided to have a look at this seat again. I pulled any fuses I could find that related to the drivers seat, and none were blown. I also unplugged and re-plugged 2 of the connectors under the seat (don't know what they went to honestly) and that didn't help anything, nor did it reset the seat memory.

To reiterate the issue, I have no cooling in the back of the seat, the seat memory function only remembers seat back angle and mirror position (no movements from the base of the seat), and lastly, the lumbar function doesn't work at all. I can still move the seat in all directions by pressing the buttons, so it seems isolated to the memory function for that issue.

@TopherSho, any idea which connectors to spray? Under the seat looks like a jumble of wires to me and I can't tell what is what.

Driver Memory Seat

When equipped with the memory option, the seat is controlled by the Driver Seat Module (DSM).

The system contains the following serviceable components:

DSM , mounted to the seat track
Memory SET switch, located on the driver cushion side shield
Power seat track
Power recline motor
Seat control switch

NOTE: Verify good battery condition before diagnosing the memory seat system. Poor battery condition may interfere with memory seat operation, even if vehicle starting is possible.

NOTE: A memory recall in progress does not prohibit the initiation of another memory recall; the most recently requested memory recall will be executed.

The driver power memory seat is controlled by the Driver Seat Module (DSM). The memory seat feature allows the driver to program a personalized seat position that can be recalled using the memory switch or a Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter. There are 2 memory settings possible. The 2 settings consist of 8 possible directions: the seat can be moved forward or backward and the front and back of the cushion can be moved up and down independently. The backrest of the seat can be moved forward and backward. Adjustable lumbar is not a memory option. The power seat feature operates independent of the ignition position.

The driver seat control switch provides voltage to the DSM when activated. The NEUTRAL position of the driver seat control switch position is a ground state through the seat control switch contacts. A voltage input causes the DSM to power the appropriate motor until the input is removed. Ground is the normal state of the motor circuits through the DSM and is not switched to control the motors. The DSM internally switches the appropriate circuit from ground to voltage for operating the motors.

As the seat is adjusted, the DSM constantly monitors the motor position sensors to record the current seat position. The DSM will remove voltage from the motor upon termination of the seat control switch input or if the DSM does not see movement from the motor by monitoring the position sensor.

The DSM communicates DTCs and other information using the MS-CAN communication bus. It should be noted for diagnostics that because MS-CAN bus communication is more robust and reliable than other methods, it may be possible to have limited module communication with one of the MS-CAN bus circuits disconnected or shorted to ground. Refer to Section 418-00 for information concerning MS-CAN bus communication.

For information on programming memory positions or recalling a stored memory position, refer to Memory Position Programming in this section. For information on RKE transmitter programming, refer to Section 501-14 .

The DSM is located under the driver seat. To install a new DSM , refer to Section 419-10 . Programmable Module Installation (PMI) must be carried out when installing a new DSM . Refer to Section 418-01 .

This section only diagnoses concerns specific to the memory seat.

Thanks Z, but I don't think it's the switch itself, unless the memory function is included in that. The switches still work manually, it just won't remember my settings, other than the mirror and the seat back.

Is the seat back supposed to cool?  Mine never has.  Only the bottom.  Back doesn't heat either.

I recall when the car was new it did supply an adequate amount of cooling towards the back seat area. Z

I did not have a seat control issue but I did have no heated or cooled seats. I replaced the module under the passenger seat, I am not,sure how to link threads but mine is on here somewhere. Tasca has the modules for a decent price compared to the dealer. And I would recommend unbolting the seat to mess with the modules as it is way easier.
