Has anyone tried the Royal Purple or any other coolant additive?

http://purple-ice.com/

Im considering because I am sick of hearing my fans run FULL speed ALL the time. AND, if engine cooler should allow more timing better performance.

Thoughts?

i used a bottle of water wetter and noticed some minor temp drops. i would recommend it. going to try amsoil coolant boost next

I use the Amsoil Dominator Coolant Boost, but did not track whether or not it helped. My hope was at worst it was "do no harm" and at best I gained some efficiency in the cooling system.

How's that for helpful? :P

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

Do you think the additive will stop the fans running all the time?

Have you inquired why the fans are doing that? Or is that normal for the tune you run? Curious now actually

Dave recall a while back you having that oily mist all over your engine bay which IMO is related to your A./C System being pressurized possibly causing your fans to run all the time. Z

I did ask LMS about the fans. Running 93 4+X tune. I was told they need engine as cool as possible to prevent detonation. I can't tell if fans are running at highway speeds as I don't have torque running anymore but soon as I come to city speeds and can listen they are at 75-100% always by my guess. So if an additive can knock 5-10 degrees off that minimizes fans running. I doubt a full 25 degrees as on label but seemingly it could help.

As for the oily mist while I still disagree with dealer of road grime from missing shields under car it has not returned. I believe something somewhere came loose and they corrected during those many trips for transmission repair.

/Dumb question on/

Does this raise the boiling point of the water?

2.oz per quart does not sound like it would raise the boiling point much at all which is what the other general purpose antifreeze fluids do.

Sorry, I seem to be making a habit of replying to older threads...

Products like Water Wetter or Amsoil's coolant booster enhance water's thermal transfer capability but do not in & of themselves raise its boiling point.  What they do, do (Heh, he said doo-doo) is lower the water's surface tension, which in effect allows the blend to absorb and give up heat more easily than straight H20 can.  FYI... I run a blend of 20% coolant, 80% distilled water & a few ounces of a product called RMI-25 in all of my cars.

I have considered using one of them, but decided against them since our cars are supposed to use a special coolant and not just any available coolant.

I agree with this. Also consider our water pump and longevity because a healthy pump is essential to a motor going boom.

A few degrees drop is not worth it in this case. This car is a little to particular to risk using it. If the water pump didn't cause catostrophic failure, I'd feel otherwise.

OP...what state are you in, according to torque, here in nj where temps hit 100 in summer, my temp rarely go above 195. Fans only go on full blast when idling or AC is on. On my gauge it hardly ever go past halfway, rarely even moves.....(Stock thermostat) .
