Vehicle warranty voids?

Hello, I am new to the forums here. I just purchased a 2016 Ford Taurus SHO. I've got the extended warranty up to 100k bumper to bumper. I am trying to see what exactly will void your warranty.
I am wanting to replace my air intake with a k&n cold air intake and also either get a new exhaust system or preferably just delete the mufflers. I have called 4 different Ford dealerships and basically they said do not do this because it will void your engine warranty. They basically said they will blame whatever after market you put on for the cause since the car was not manufactured to have those parts.

One of my friends had a 2015 f150 with the 3.5 twin turbo in it and his transmission went out. He had his truck tuned and had a CAI in it. The dealership looked past it and replaced it under warranty.
Now my other friend had a 2014 focus sti and blew his motor but since he had an after market exhaust and blow off valve, his warranty didn't cover it.
Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks

I would NOT mod the car unless you are prepared to bite the bullet.

Yes, some people will cite  the magnusson moss act or whatever its called explaining that the onus is on the dealer or mfg to prove the mod caused the damage...but in reality its not hard to make the leap....i could easily say that a cai increased intake air temps and cause an operating condition that created preignition and boom.

Its unfair to me that the onus is on the mfg to prove anything...why do they have to do anything when its the owner that went rogue and modded the car?

I feel a tune should be an automatic engine voided warranty.....but then again completely stock engines spin bearings....so i think the responsibility should fall solely on the owner just because you may not be able to prove anything but it was the owner that CHOSE to mod when they did it on their own

Most people will stick with tune, tstat, and 3bar map exactly for these reasons.  Maybe a dropin K&N filter also.

Intake exhaust best way to avoid issues is to go with a completely engineered system like Livernois.  The rest are just approximations, very good ones, but still ...

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

On top of that, even if it wasn't caused by any of your modifications, Fords pockets are probably a lot deeper than anyone here, so they could out do you in court most likely, its very expensive and I'm sure they have lawyers on staff.

Most aftermarket CAIs  just take in hot air and decrease performance once hood is closed. Only one that is true CAI is MDesign intake, but it will not get you more power then OEM intake with AEM filter.

Aftermarket exhaust will not void engine waranty as long as you do not touch cats. Get catback exaust. Waranty will only be voided on your exhaust.

Blowoff is different story. If it is not operating properly then can cause engine failure very quickly.  He should have switch it back to OEM before taking car for waranty work.

The risk factor will always remain with any after market part but will impede even greater after the 3/36K threshold is up as the extended warranty company's will need to verify and visually inspect any such claims exceeding a certain amount prior to approval. Z

Okay thanks! Any recommendations for cat back exhausts I should go with possibly? Also my extended warranty is through ford not an third party. It's just a 100$ deductible. So not sure if the procedure would be different or not.
