Downpipes

Hey all, I'm Josh, (noob). Just got my MKS Ecoboost 2 weeks ago. Looking for the best "sleeper power". Would love to get some real world insight.

Id start with a tune then see if you want more....a tune has way more value than downpipes

I've personally used stainless works catless pipes...They were fine after they changed their pattern for the PP cars and now have correct 02 sensor placement

They increase the overall efficiency of the engine by evacuating exhaust gasses..I typically see a small reduction in wastegate duty cycle when tuning cars that have them...Meaning it's easier for the turbos to maintain high boost levels but more importantly they help reduce the thermal load on the turbos which can extend the life.

I second what AJP said! My personal recommendation would be start with a tune, and if you still want more, then downpipes as the next step. I had an AJP tune for a while (on its own), and loved it, then added downpipes, and some other mods, and made significant power with my 2015 SHO PP. l actually bought AJPs downpipes after he got his truck.

The tune is definitely the greatest difference you will notice. It is also cheaper than the downpipes, and needed to properly utilize downpipes anyway!

Yeah man, I definitely realize the price factors. I also know a tune has to be done with exhaust. I've been reading up long before I got the car.

I would add this to the mix,if your State requires Emissions Testing I/M Readiness then PPE Catted DP from www.ecopwerparts.com are the only ones proven to pass while the others mentioned above are simply for off-road use only.  Z

That was one of the huge deciding factors with me. And I have seen pictures of PPE's work and their stuff is practically considered art.

Just to be clear, the PPE pipes pass your cars readiness but are still considered off road pipes per EPA, me and PPE.

Here's the deal they're not the cheapest but I made 600WHP with the catted pipes on my car and they pass readiness checks for your ECU and the construction is amazing. I have started ordering in sets of 3 to have available so that customers won't have to wait 2 months for the pipes. I expect my stock order to be ready in another 3-4 weeks for all future customers.

It's not an SHO but I've got a '16 Explorer Platinum EcoBoost (3.5L Twin Turbo) and I installed a Livernois Sport Level 2 Performance Package with a 3 Bar Map and I've been having fun driving it for the past 2 weeks.  I kept the original muffler on and it sounds nice at start up but runs quiet except for the few instances when you punch it.  I'd invest in a tune first but if you can splurge, get the downpipes and a 3 Bar Map Sensor.
