I need to buy DWS's around October/November; at which point I am throwing the F1's in trash. Right now I have 245 on 20x8.5; could I get a 255 on there without needing spacers? I have 40 offset on my wheels.

Was thinking 255/45/20.

I'm pretty sure you will have no problem.

2011 tuxedo black non pp, LMS stage 5, Corsa cat back, LMS down pipes, Airaid, Alky control meth injection, Megan Racing coil overs, EBC rotor&pads, Mobsteel grill, 2013 trans cooler. 403whp 417wtq 12.25 @ 110

I also noticed they are cheaper on TireRack; $221 per tire 255/45 versus $245 per tire 245/45.

Thanks Crash -- thinking this would look much better.

Its should really appear no different, were only talking 10mm but some tires when going from 245 to 255 the side wall gets taller. I don't truly understand why that it is, but apparently the dimensions they mark on side walls are not 100% accurate.

The 255/45's should be 10mm wider and 4.5mm taller than the 245/45.  IIRC.  I would like to do that too next set.

Here is what that nifty tirecalc says.

I think I'm going to go ahead and go with 255/45/ZR20 DSW's.

I just bought 255/45/20 to replace the same size tires on my Flex. Stockers are 245/45/20. The Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110 tires are pretty freaking awesome and CHEAP. :) Great summer tire.

Close enough not to worry about the speedo.

How do you like 255 width?

The problem I have right now, looking at my car from front it seems like 245 are just a little too narrow.

Probably dumb question; since I'm looking at it from aesthetics perspective LOL.

The reason is the sidewall is a ratio/percentage of the tread width.  45% of 255 is more than 45% of 245.  By 4.5mm just as was said but that is PER SIDEWALL which doubles it when accounting for total diameter.  The tire is ~9mm taller.

BTW its what a Flex uses in 20" stock so that will give you a visual to go off of.

Funny, I was planning on going to a 245/45-20 in the front of the Flex to lose excess sidewall (with matching height 275/40 in rear)

You got that right Dave! Couldn't have said it better myself......

I'm actually looking at moving to a 275/45/20 all the way around on 20x9 in the next month or so. Probably Nitto NT05R since I don't have to commute and the Flex is just for funsies. :)
