Speedometer stuck/ inaccurate mph readings

Driving along today i noticed at one point the speedo was stuck at around 15mph while i was cruising right along on a 45mph road with the flow of traffic. did some accelerating and braking to see if i could nudge it loose and it would hardly move. Pulled the car over and turned it off/started it again and it seems to be working again but is also a few mph off of what my X4 displays for mph. It always seems to be 2-4mph higher than the X4 readings. It's especially slow to adjust on deceleration and values drop much slower than the X4 does. It seems to be getting a little better with more key cycles but bothers me that it's off. The variance between the X4 and speedo in the car could have always existed. . . i never displayed vehicle speed as a gauge on the X4 until today. Anyone have any experience with this or suffered a frozen speedo?  Think i may do a KAM reset when i get a few minutes. . . couldn't hurt.
TIA guys!

At one point there was a TSB for incorrect speedo, leading to recalibration and/or replacement of the gauge cluster.  On vehicles with an analog speedo, it is indeed common for the speed displayed to vary from "actual"/OBD speed, increasing with speed.  So at 60 mph, it might be 2 mph off, for example.

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

Thanks SHOdded. the difference in OBD and speedo doesn't suprise me all that much. My car is a 2011 so technically the TSB doesn't apply but the speedo definitely stuck for a few miles or more. Hopefully it was a fluke

IDK if Forscan with an extended license can update the IC calibration or not, might be worth looking into/asking them about.

IC calibration? not familiar. i've had the latest strategy installed so that's not a concern.

I think what SHODDED was talking about was more like module programming...The strategy update you got would've been for the ECU not the IPC..I 'd be guessing at what the dealers do for that....The fact that you mentioned that it was sticking makes me think component failure...I'd be afraid to know what the cluster costs.

I bought a Boss 302 cluster for my mustang and it was 800 then I got a 400 core for my GT cluster in return.

The instrument cluster is what needs reprogrammed per this TSB.

Is that done with IDS or what?
It's literally only happened once and if it doesn't occur often i'll live with it til i have to fix it. and i'd only be shelling out $100 deductible for my warranty come the time

It is done through IDS, and may be possible through Forscan.  If you have premiumcare, you may even get this done for free by the dealership, as this is a valid safety concern.  Just ask them straight up.

would this not get done ona strategy update? the tech that did the update said he updated everything he could including all accessory features etc. very possibly could be the instrument failing also

That is a PCM update, not to be confused with an instrument cluster update.  I would verify EXPLICITLY that the instrument cluster was updated to a calibration at or beyond that in the TSB.
