Catted vs. Catless PPE Downpipes

So I have 4 years until I need to go for inspection and was wondering if the performance difference is perceivable between the catted and catless midpipes.  I know on my Buick having no cat makes a huge difference but that's really a totally different beast.  Also wouldn't mind saving $150 on the pipes but am a tad concerned about the smoking exhaust reports, even though that's really due to the turbos.

Thanks.

In summary, little to no power difference between catted & catless.  This thread might be of interest to you:

As far as the "smoking" problem, it's a tossup.  Some people do just fine, others not so much.  Spending the extra $150 now enables you to move freely, and sell freely :)

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

Thanks.

Not likely..i wouldnt be so quick to blame it on the turbos...read my commentary on the other threads...ive come to the conclusion that the cats clean up the crank case vapors...more of a direct injection problem not really a turbo problem

No because it will set a CEL. Your tuner can turn off the CEL but then it will show not ready status when they do the OBD2 test.

Catted should pass no problem.
Many people here are running Catted without a problem.
Catless will though a cel.

NO worries they will pass,I'm actually going for my annual inspection today here in N.Y...and it will be my 4th time is a charm passing with the PPE catted DP which are the only ones that will pass OBD emissions testing.....if your tuned you will need to return to stock tune a few days prior to testing in order to complete the full driving cycle procedure which sometimes can take up to 200 miles in order to have all the I/M complete and readiness status.  Z

I emphasized the important part above.  Do NOT buy any other catted DP's if you want to run untuned without a CEL, pass emissions, or be able to take your car in for warranty work without a CEL with the factory tune.

IMO, I would either run PP catted downpipes or go catless with any quality brand.  No reason to have cats that still trigger the CEL in my opinion.

My car has catted PPE as well and no CEL with the stock tune.  Car is happy and so am I.  Not sure there's much of a power gain though.

They bolt right up to the flange pipe using your existing gaskets.BTW here some pics of my original DP and exhaust at 2k on them.  Z
