10 psi and lots of spark timing.

This was something I had been thinking about for a while and then that pipeline situation arose so I wanted to have a backup plan just in case the shortage cascaded.

Brad whipped this up overnight for me and it was in my inbox first thing in the AM. No revisions with perfect manners and drivability out of the box. The E36 tune is more powerful overall with the extra 7 psi of boost but I will say this tune is a TON of fun for city driving. Brake boosting to 2K resulted in the ass end stepping out at launch and the tires howling for grip.

There is a plateau in the log where it appears the X4 hung briefly.

I had no idea the factory fuel system was capable of supporting straight e85? Have any plans to dyno or track this file? It would be interesting to see the potential of this tune!!

Are there any concerns with lines or other components degrading with E85?

My OARs have gone to hell in the last few days and I am wondering if its the fact that I went to colder plugs too early or if the fuel in the area is being affected by the shortage.

Track yes, dyno probably not.

No more fun until my recall is handled which may be this week, enjoying the E36 till then.

AWESOME!!!  cant wait to hear  how the E85 does....  I would love to sport it in my flex since there are pumps all over by me.  Found a E30 pump and working on getting er dialed in on that for now.

The fueling was actually pretty simple and since this was a pretty mature tune with tons of work already most of it was a carry over. Fuel needed set and boost limited

I was actually hoping that 12 psi would've been possible but with running straight E85 that may have been wishful thinking.

But honestly E85 blends and straight E85 do wonders for octane....I never cared to mess with E but after some of the logs I've seen and the tunes I've been doing I'm getting curious myself...It's like you can just keep throwing spark at it and knock retard is almost non existent even when spark and IAT's are high, it's impressive.

Early on I found out that I actually had to raise some of the spark limiters because I was adding spark and it wasn't increasing because having the E allowed spark levels that rode the limiters.

It must actually feel pretty weird filling it up with a full tank of E85 Very cool indeed

Personally I wouldn't use an E30 pump.

Most likely the fuel making up the rest is not top tier or 93 since they can boost octane with the corn.

There's also a good chance it's lacking a good additive pack as well.

Shortly before AJPTurbo started officially tuning, I decided to do some testing of my blend with Speedway 93 vs Shell V-Power 93. I did not tell him I had crap fuel in my car to start with and we became knock limited pretty early on (Rev 6 or 7). I switched to V-Power plus corn and we are at revision 22. The Speedway corn (Which has always been very consistent)and Shell V-Power  is a pretty potent combination. After this experience I have no doubt that top tier fuel is worth every penny.

Ultimately I don't think straight E85 is the right answer because of the fuel quality inherent in the higher e blends. As E-85 goes up base fuel quality goes down. It's a nice option just in case but I believe the blended tunes will prove faster and can provide the best of all worlds, The higher Btus of gasoline, less fuel system demand, high octane, a quality additive pack, and some shiny exhaust tips.

I am not concerned about the components.

fomocosho- I see your concerns forsure.  I usually did the V power as well.  What would you recommend???  fill with the V then top with 85??  say 1 gallon of 85 to three of the V?  that should bring the mix to E29...  not sure if that mixes the two good enough

Ok.  Would it hurt if I do the E85 then run like 6 balls down for 93 Vpower??   Wouldn't be empty though when I do it. Thanks

No actually the ltfts shut down temporarily after a refueling event giving only short term corrections. If you do it right after you top off with 93 your trims will be set a few miles after the 93 topoff.

I can actually leave shell, drive for a couple miles then jump on the highway and take a log and fueling looks good.

Drive conservatively after filling up with E85 until you fill up with the V93.  Should be ok after that.
