New Chapter!

So, I did it. I finally convinced myself to sell my oxford ultra white 91 5.0 coupe and move onto something new. It was a tough decision for sure. After 12 years of owning it, it was finally running perfect with a modded engine (heads, cam, intake, injectors etc. etc.). A summer daily driver that could run low 13s all day long on street tires. Being an entrepreneur, I've always been keen on taking chances and this was a chance for me. A chance that scared me, but in a good way. I've always thought it's never a good idea to get 'too' comfortable in life. I felt that the whitehorse was starting to give off that vibe, holding me back, while another part of me was saying move forward - there's so much more out there. Like so much more, right??!! So after living this many years with the whitehorse and a winter beater plus another family vehicle, I decided to trim off of some inventory and let both go and get something that was an all year round fun vehicle. I came to find a '15 Explorer (white - of course!!) that has almost as much power as the whitehorse and could actually accommodate the whole family without somebody getting left out.

I'm pretty excited about this forced induction stuff. Ford has handed the aftermarket world a big bag of aces. Can't wait to tinker.

So with that said... looking for first mod ideas. What did you guys do? What did you like and what didn't you like and wish you had of done?

Thanks!

Welcome to the EB community, Frittles, and congrats on the new ride!  Def a tough decision you had to make though ...

First mod?  Lots of pics of your rides (new & old) LOL!  THEN a tune, 3bar MAP and colder TStat to get you started right with the XSport.  This post may be helpful:

If you are going to tow, get a tune specifically for those situations also.
2007 Ford Edge SEL, Powerstop F/R Brake Kit, TXT LED 6000K Lo & Hi Beams, W16W LED Reverse Bulbs, 3BSpec 2.5w Map Lights, 5W Cree rear dome lights, 5W Cree cargo light, DTBL LED Taillights

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

Welcome and congrats!  Nice choice of vehicle.  Love the XSports.  Would love to see some pics of it and the coupe.  Hard to let go of a nice Fox Body, but you'll be very comfy now.

As said above, go with a good tune/tuner first and then decide if it needs anything else.

Welcome to EB performance and congrats on the new White XSport! Though it is awesome to hear your previous power car served you more than a decade and very well. Though the comfort the XSport will bring along with performance is a worthy upgrade.

Pictures are in demand though here! The others have giving you great insight on starting your modding path.

Welcome! I have been very impressed with fords contribution go the boosted DI market. Also very happy we get to play with more modern designs without moving away from a native brand.

No question. Tune 1st.

High quality synthetic fluids all around. Removing friction in the drivetrain is a power adder in itself.

I am unbolted, have removed everything I put on. I even put the paper filter back in. Remember, every bolt on has a tradeoff and since I have been unable to determine any gains in butt dyno or logs it is just not worth the hassle to me. The best part is nobody in the service department has any idea there is a beast lurking on one of their racks. This strategy also helps keep a low profile from LEO types.

Don't forget fellow member AJPturbo as a tuning option. Excellent service and communication and I always know exactly what is going on with my car. He answers all my stupid questions and let's me try my harebrained ideas. The education I have received is just the icing on the cake.I really like the fact that my transmission is not on murder and he actually enhances some of the Ford safety features with no loss in performance.

If I wanted a hands off option, I'd go with LME.

Congrats on your new Xsport and welcome to the forum!

Looks great...both of them!

Coming from someone who has owned several fox bodies and still has one in the garage, I'm betting you are enjoying the new rides comfort and infotainment.  Hard to beat something that is fast and luxurious on a daily basis.
