FORD C-MAX 2013-2015, FORD ESCAPE 2013-2015, FORD FOCUS 2012-2015, FORD MUSTANG 2015, FORD TRANSIT CONNECT 2014-2016, LINCOLN MKC 2015

Details
SUMMARY:
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2012-2015 Ford Focus, 2013-2015 Ford Escape and Ford C-MAX, 2015 Lincoln MKC and Ford Mustang, and 2014-2016 Ford Transit Connect vehicles. A component within the door latches may break, preventing the doors from latching and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.
CONSEQUENCE:
A door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.
REMEDY:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the door latches with an improved part, free of charge. Due to a limited parts supply, each owner will be sent an interim notification beginning October 3, 2016 and will receive a second notice when parts are available in the second quarter of 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 16S30.
NOTES:
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

NHTSA Action Number: PE16001 Door Latch Failure
SUMMARY:
The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 73 reports concerning the door latches on model year 2012-2013 Ford Focus vehicles. Complainants alleged that the door(s) failed to latch, with several reports indicating that the "door ajar" warning light on the dash appeared. Some drivers allege that the door opened while the vehicle was being driven. Complainants with a failed door latch indicate that in some cases the door had to be physically tied down to keep shut while others stopped driving the vehicle out of fear of the door opening while driving. One injury was reported which was caused by a consumer being struck by a door that rebounded after attempting to close it. The failure mode appears to be similar to the investigation EA15-002. ODI has opened this investigation to further analyze the scope, frequency and consequence of the alleged incidents. ODI reports cited above can be reviewed at www-odi.nhtsa.gov/complaints under the following identification (ODI) numbers: 10818622, 10816923, 10816587, 10816367, 10810611, 10810607, 10809371, 10807578, 10794726, 10794361, 10790724, 10790360, 10790078, 10789811, 10789078, 10788509, 10787871, 10786601, 10785732, 10785693, 10784961, 10783413, 10783227, 10783215, 10782996, 10782586, 10781519, 10781069, 10780996, 10780150, 10779734, 10779095, 10778881, 10776613, 10776484, 10766696, 10766355, 10765319, 10765089, 10763900, 10763727, 10763528, 10763339, 10762958, 10762709, 10762637, 10761093, 10760899, 10760370, 10759398, 10759242, 10759141, 10759100, 10759093, 10758787, 10748625, 10747564, 10745771, 10745480, 10735258, 10734889, 10734886, 10734282, 10733739, 10726024, 10723813, 10721861, 10712999, 10629964, 10628099, 10621386, 10621384, 10620640.

Personally, I'd go back to the stock tune and 2 bar sensor every time.

The dealership thinking you have a sedate unmolested ECU is always best for dealer interactions.

After the service, make sure your strategy hasn't changed before retuning. Pull it up in the X4 or MYCAL before the visit and take a pic for reference.

DECEMBER 13, 2017 — The Stop Underrides Act of 2017 has been introduced by Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) to prevent underride crashes that occur when a car slides under the body of a large truck or trailer.

An underride crash can easily kill car occupants even if the crash occurs at low speeds, but current federal laws mandate guards only on the rear of trailers and certain trucks.

However, those standards are considered outdated by underride guard proponents.

The Stop Underrides Act addresses rear, side and front underride guards that would be installed on "all trailers, semi-trailers, and single unit trucks with a gross vehicle weight rating of more than 10,000 pounds that are manufactured on or after the effective date of the rule.

I would prefer retrofitted video on the rear bumper displaying such an incident for someone following too close, LOL.  Hope something comes of it that is practical AND not an eyesore.

FORD RECALLS ESCAPE SUVS TO FIX SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS.  Z
DECEMBER 19, 2017 — Ford is recalling more than 10,150 model year 2018 Escape SUVs to fix problems with the side curtain airbags.
Ford was contacted last month by the side curtain airbag supplier (Autoliv) concerning a test that showed a problem, something the supplier believed was caused by something called the "top hat diffuser" located in the airbag module.

Ford says the metal wasn't formed properly and can cause the diffuser on the side airbag to detach from the inflator during deployment. This can cause a tear in the airbag that could cause the side airbag to not fully inflate.

In addition, the diffuser could become a projectile flying around the passenger compartment in a crash, something that could injure occupants even if the crash doesn't.

However, Ford isn't aware of any reports of crashes or injuries related to the side airbag problems.

The 2018 Ford Escape recall is expected to begin January 29, 2018. Ford dealerships will need to replace the driver and passenger side curtain airbags, but the automaker didn't say how long it will take technicians to make the repairs.

If you own a 2018 Ford Escape and have concerns about the side airbags, call the automaker at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for the Escape recall is 17S44

FORD COOLANT LEAK RECALL TO BEGIN SOON

January 4, 2018 — A Ford coolant leak recall is set to begin for owners of Ford Escapes, Fiesta STs, Fusions and Transit Connects, with 2014 Escape SUVs first on the list.

The recall was first announced in March 2017 that covers about 230,000 model year 2014 Ford Escape, 2014-2015 Ford Fiesta ST, 2013-2014 Ford Fusion and 2013-2015 Ford Transit Connect vehicles.

The vehicles can overheat and catch on fire because a lack of coolant causes the cylinder heads to overheat and the heads to crack. This can cause pressurized oil leaks that can result in engine compartment fires.

At the time of the March 2017 recall announcement, Ford had recorded 29 such fires but no reported injuries.

All the vehicles are equipped with 1.6-liter EcoBoost engines, but when all the vehicles will be repaired is up in the air. Ford says parts are now available to complete the recall on Escape SUVs only.

The automaker is sending dealers information in January 2018 concerning when they can order parts and receive repair instructions to fix Fusion and Transit Connect vehicles. Then Ford will send bulletins to dealers in February 2018 concerning when parts will be available to repair the Fiesta ST cars.

Based on letters Ford sent to dealerships, technicians likely aren't looking forward to the recall after reading about the complexity of the repairs and how Ford has tried to make things easier for dealers.

The automaker says to help technicians, repair procedures have been divided alphabetically into multiple separate procedures, and replacement parts have been packaged into kits. Additionally, repair procedures come complete with a list of photos of the parts required and a list of "unique tools" needed to make the repairs.

Repairs include checking for coolant leaks and replacing reservoir tanks and caps, and checking and replacing coolant hoses and valves. Ford will also install coolant level sensors and reprogram software.

Affected owners may contact Ford at 866-436-7332 and ask about recall number 17S09.  Z

But they wont recall or properly support the Focus and Fiesta Transmission problem. Once you get fixed a few times. Ford wont do anymore. At least for my mom they wont.

FORD TAURUS RECALLED FOR ROLLAWAY DANGERS
Ford recalls 2,100 Taurus cars because the keys can be removed without the cars in PARK
. Z

MARCH 2, 2018 — Ford is recalling about 2,100 model year 2017-2018 Ford Taurus cars because they could roll away and cause all sorts of mayhem.
Ford says the key can be removed from the ignition switch without the car in PARK.

All the vehicles use physical keys and do not have push-button start options, and all the cars were built in Chicago between July 21, 2017, and February 13, 2018.

Although being able to remove the key without the car in PARK is a dangerous condition, Ford says it doesn't know of any crashes or injuries related to the problem.

All the 2,100 recalled cars are in the U.S. and federalized territories, and dealers will replace the shifter assemblies in the 2017-2018 models, although the automaker didn't say when the recall will begin.

The problem is in no way related to ignition switch defects that caused General Motors to recall millions of cars after hundreds of deaths and injuries.

Affected Taurus owners may call Ford at 866-436-7332 and refer to recall number 18C02.

FORD RECALLS ECOSPORTS IN U.S. FEDERALIZED TERRITORIES
Ford recalls 2018 EcoSports to replace European items with U.S. versions.

MAY 19, 2018 — About 273 model year 2018 Ford EcoSports are recalled because they have the wrong brake fluid reservoir caps and wrong owner's manual kits.  Z

The vehicles are located only in U.S. federalized territories and all the vehicles have European owner's manuals and brake fluid caps instead of U.S. versions.

Dealers will replace the brake fluid reservoir caps and the owner's manual kits with U.S. versions.

The recalled 2018 Ford EcoSports were built in India between October 27, 2017, and March 6, 2018.

FORD EXPLORER RECALL: SUSPENSION PROBLEMS IN 1.2 MILLION SUVS. Z   ???

Ford Explorers recalled to prevent drivers from losing control due broken suspension toe links

JUNE 12, 2019 — A Ford Explorer recall for more than 1.2 million SUVs has been ordered so that dealerships can replace the left and right rear suspension toe links.

According to Ford, 2011-2017 Explorers may suffer from rear suspension toe link fractures that will cause drivers serious steering problems, including the chance of losing control.

Ford says one driver reported hitting a curb when the toe link broke, but the automaker says it's unaware of any injuries caused by the problems.

A Ford Explorer is more susceptible if the rear suspension often travels over a surface that causes the rear-end to bounce.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has not released details about the Explorer recall, but Ford says about 1.2 million SUVs are in the U.S., 28,000 are recalled in Canada and one Explorer will be repaired in Mexico.

The 2011-2017 Explorers were built in Chicago between May 17, 2010, and January 25, 2017.

Ford dealers will need to align the rear suspensions in addition to replacing both rear suspension toe links.

Affected Ford Explorer customers with questions should call 866-436-7332 and refer to recall number 19S17
