FORD EXPLORERS AND LINCOLN AVIATORS RECALLED FOR FIRE RISK
Ford recalls 4,000 SUVs with fuel lines that could rub together and leak gas. Z   :o

DECEMBER 6, 2019 — A model year 2020 Ford Explorer and 2020 Lincoln Aviator recall has been issued for nearly 4,000 SUVs at risk of fires..

"[T]he convolute protective sleeve on the liquid fuel line is not long enough, which may allow for potential hard contact with the convolute-protected vapor fuel line."

The automaker says because of vibration and engine roll, contact between the two fuel lines may cause the convolute on the vapor fuel line to rub through the plastic liquid fuel line. This can allow fuel to leak and cause a fire, although Ford is unaware of any fires, crashes or injuries related to the problem.

There are 3,858 recalled Ford Explorers and Lincoln Aviators in the U.S., 35 in Canada and seven in Mexico, and all were built in Chicago and all are equipped with 3-liter engines.

The Ford Explorer SUVs were manufactured between January 18 and July 17, 2019, and the Lincoln Aviator SUVs were built January 15 through July 17, 2019

Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator owners may call 866-436-7332 and refer to recall number 19S49

FORD EXPLORER RECALL: SUSPENSION PROBLEMS IN 1.2 MILLION SUVS. Z   ???

Ford Explorers recalled to prevent drivers from losing control due broken suspension toe links

JUNE 12, 2019 — A Ford Explorer recall for more than 1.2 million SUVs has been ordered so that dealerships can replace the left and right rear suspension toe links.

According to Ford, 2011-2017 Explorers may suffer from rear suspension toe link fractures that will cause drivers serious steering problems, including the chance of losing control.

Ford says one driver reported hitting a curb when the toe link broke, but the automaker says it's unaware of any injuries caused by the problems.

A Ford Explorer is more susceptible if the rear suspension often travels over a surface that causes the rear-end to bounce.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has not released details about the Explorer recall, but Ford says about 1.2 million SUVs are in the U.S., 28,000 are recalled in Canada and one Explorer will be repaired in Mexico.

The 2011-2017 Explorers were built in Chicago between May 17, 2010, and January 25, 2017.

Ford dealers will need to align the rear suspensions in addition to replacing both rear suspension toe links.

Affected Ford Explorer customers with questions should call 866-436-7332 and refer to recall number 19S17
