Part numbers for 6f55 SHO transmission assembly?

Im shopping around for a remanufactured trans assembly and Im finding a really wide range of prices, anywhere from 1900 after core refund to 5999 with no core, and it doesn't seem like the part numbers are either listed or match up with each other.

I know the SHO has the 6F55, not the 6F50, but when I read into the description of the transmission, they sometimes reference the 55, sometimes reference the 50 and sometimes reference the 6F "family". I would hate to order a trans, pay for shipping, get it half way installed only to find out its not the right part!!

Are all the trans from the current generation of SHO interchangeable and what about between a SHO that is PP equipped vs non PP equipped? If a PP trans were installed would i also have to change the RDU gear ratio?

AJP turbo

I dont know about most questions but the final drive is in the trans so for pp and non pp swap i think tou might need tuning to correct the shifting and speedo maybe

Seems like there's different transmissions according to car-part.com, so not sure if they're all interchangeable.  These are the options you get when searching for a 2010 SHO trans:

AT, (6 Speed), (3.5L), turbo, (AWD), ID AA5P-7000-BA thru BD
AT, (6 Speed), (3.5L), turbo, (AWD), ID AA5P-7000-DA thru DD

I'm no transmission expert, but i believe the 6F55 is just a beefed up version of the 6f50.  Some of the same parts, but not all.  Which ones - that I couldn't tell you.  I'd find out the exact transmission that's in your car according to your vin and go from there if you want to go the remanufactured route.

Any reason you're doing this instead of just having it rebuilt?  I went the rebuilt route and have been happy with my results when my TC crapped out.

i called 5 different trans shops in my area and all say they only replace with reman units, no one wants to rebuild mine... I would prefer a rebuild, know anyone in the Louisville area who does it??

I have found reman units as low as 1900.00 and I would be happy with that. $2700.00 total after installation seems like a pretty good deal. I just have to make sure I'm getting a 6F55 without PP! No one seems to know if they have 55's or 50's and most of the websites I've seen show the SHO and the SEL/Limited/SE all have a compatible transmission, I know thats not correct.

Got it.  Everyone wants the easy way out.  Plug and play.

I've got a shop in nyc that will do everything for just under $2000 if you want to get towed up here. That's about the best i can do.

Have you checked car-part.com from all the pulled units?  Seems to be a lot of options on there.

Ford reman units come with 3 year/unlimited mileage warranty.  Have you tried fordpartsgiant.com with your VIN?
2007 Ford Edge SEL, Powerstop F/R Brake Kit, TXT LED 6000K Lo & Hi Beams, W16W LED Reverse Bulbs, 3BSpec 2.5w Map Lights, 5W Cree rear dome lights, 5W Cree cargo light, DTBL LED Taillights

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

Fordpartsgiant wants 700 MORE than my local dealer for a new transmission... although they are the first I've seen that actually identifies it by the part that ford said works.

pmezo33, I got back in the phone book and started calling places again, low and behold the first place I called prefers to rebuild the 6F55 rather than replace it with a reman.. He said his rebuilds are done to the same standard as a reman unit is, with the exception of the case having a nice pretty grey paint job. his quote was between $$2200-$2800.

Car-part.com isn't really an option, since my trans essentially died at 150k and the general thought here is that is an acceptable lifespan for a trans in a tuned car.... Im not going to roll the dice and risk a trans that maybe wasn't looked after as well as mine was and risk another break down in the next year or so.

It just baffles me that the local dealer said they can't really cross reference a trans part number to see if it is a 6F55 for a SHO..

That's a fair price for the rebuild.  Make sure that comes with a warranty though.  And make sure they know you need a TC too.
