Before I tune?

I was wondering if Livernois and Unleashed tune just for WOT or do they also tune the part throttle.  I want to find the most complete tune.  I'll be ready to take the plung soon after all my pre tune matenance.  Already have plugs, new cop boots,3 bar, thermostat,  ptu and rdu fluid, tranny fluid, synthetic oil, new brakes better pads (if you go fast gotta stop), all need is my catch can and I'm ready.

What do you think about asking livernois and unleashed about their tuning?....both are quick to respond to emails and livernois even has a hot line

Problem with your question to the public is not one single person here has seen the calibration file of a lms tune and possibly only a hand full of people have seen an unleashed tune file

My advice would be to ask the people you would purchase from

Some people will tell you they feel a difference but you would be surprised to see the lack of changes to part throttle tuning

Unleashed or lms have the time, resources , dyno room with temp control, coolant temp control, dyno with load control to tune all cells to tune part throttle

Nice collection of parts.  Looks like a good basis for both maintenance and performance improvement.

I'm in a similar position.  Have an SCT x4 from Unleashed, Reische 170 thermostat, 3 bar map, sp534 plugs, rdu and ptu gear oils, and transmission fluid.  Just waiting on the PPE catted downpipes.

The only reason i started tuning was to get my own results that didnt even have to do with power ...after i wasnt satified with the tune i purchased.

The power was just a byproduct of the power delivery i was looking for...i wasnt looking for a certain power...you never really should be

Enlightening responses.   I have read so many tune review of how ots night and day at wot.  I would have thought someone could easily tell the difference at part throttle.  I have a better question when exactly does the car switch to WoT maps.  Is that only at 100% peddal to the metal.  Or at say 75% or so open?  I just want to know if the purchased tune will only come into play when the pedal is floored, or would i feel a difference elsewhere?

With the Livernois tune on the 2010-2012 models, you certainly do not need WOT to tell the difference.  Driven gently, I doubt that most people could tell it was tuned.  I would say that at 50% throttle you would feel the difference but that is just a WAG.  It has been so long since I ran stock, I don't even recall what it was like.

I noticed differences at basically all throttle positions, unless I'm just leaving a stop light normaly (which has been hard to do since tuned).

Even at only 50% throttle the car is quicker than it was before, and has made passing much easier...without having to go 100% throttle.

I notice the difference well below 50% throttle, but from 50% on up it really is more dramatic.

I don't know why you would want all kinds of extra power at lower pedal inputs....If you wanted you could have WOT and command 500 ft/lbs of tq at 10% pedal.

When you command more tq from less pedal you kill fuel economy and lose the range of what the pedal will give you....The pedal becomes overly sensitive if you command more tq at low pedal.

You can have 2 cars in 1. Let it be mild and smooth at part throttle then go ballistic when you floor it.

The gas pedal has NOTHING to do with throttle blade anymore....The amount of pedal travel available will give you a range of commanded tq. The more you push the pedal the more torque you are commanding...The torque gets translated into a desired load, which then gets translated into a desired TIP. So when desired TIP is 10 psi the turbo and throttle blade allow that much airflow in the engine. The car knows exactly how much boost or TIP will give you a certain power or torque.

You want the commanded torque from the pedal to be fairly linear or the car will feel weird and non linear.

The expression WOT is actually when the car goes into open loop fueling and has nothing to do with power. And the transition for wot fueling stock happens at 90% pedal...Tuned I would lower that substantially so as to make sure you are getting fuel enrichment when you are hitting boost.

In addition to all that, if and when you try and command more torque with less pedal then you start commanding more aggressive shifts at part throttle because the shifts are commanded based on the torque levels you are at. So you are at 400 ftlbs tq at part throttle because you jacked the tables up then you get hard shifts  when you were looking to cruise.

EVERYTHING needs to play nice with eachother in the tune. It's not usually a good idea to "rape" or skew one set of tables to force a result without making the proper changes elsewhere

I know for a fact that Unleashed will do part throttle tuning though I do not know how much more power they give if any. I have had to get updates to partial throttle tuning to address compressor surge when I change my charge-air volume.

Is anything done by default? No idea. But Torrie seems willing to change just about anything you would want to change.

On both of my SHO tunes from Torrie, no part throttle was changed according to him.
