Best place to run amp power wire from battery to trunk

I tried searching for an answer, but didn't find anything.  I have a 2012 Lincoln MKS and plan on installing a subwoofer in the next couple weeks.

How did you guys get your power wires back in the trunk?  Just pull up the trim on the driver side and run it along there?

Appreciate any input.

I had commented on some of your other posts on how I plan on doing the same. I was hoping to find a good 12 source already near the back as it seems impossible to run anything anywhere in this car! True engineering marvel when you can't find a gap anywhere.

Would an existing source even have enough power?

On systems I've done in the past, I've always ran either 4 or 8 gauge wire from the battery into the trunk.  But like you said, there doesn't appear to be an obvious path to the trunk.

Entirely depends on how much power you need. Anything we pull from should be fused and there for give a good idea of what you can get through it. That combined with measuring the gauge of the wire and you will know if you need more. I was not planning on anything too crazy so I had hoped I would be able to use some wiring from the existing system. Just starting to warm up here so maybe I will start digging around soon. Wish I could get some wiring diagrams, i am sure someone on here has them.

Yeah, a wiring diagram would be huge!

I wish the SHO/MKS aftermarket support was like Mustang support.  Every tech question I've ever had about my Mustang is immediately answered by swarms of people!

You can also try asking in the SHOforum, and on the Taurus Car Club of America (TCCA) sites.  The SHO/MKS is a very limited production run compared to the Mustang ...

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

On my Flex you removed the cowling on the driver's side and there's a large grommet with all the wiring there, easily able to bring the wire in there.

Somewhere ZSHO put up the diagram that shows where it is. I think you have to take out the glove box.

Mikes 100%correct that in fact the wiring can be run through the passenger side compartment by removing the glove box, check out this link and hope it helps any.  Z       https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas/non-html/2012/P-001_2013_Police_Interceptor_Wire_Harness_Pass-Through.pdf      BTW Misc wiring can be found here.  Z    http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?tid=131604

Lanson also ran his wire for his flex in the same place.
I recently did this on my SHO.

you do need to remove the wiper arms though. It was kind of a pain to fish the wire down through the large rubber grommet hut it worked without issue.
I also used some protective insulation around the wire in the dash. Lots of SHARP pieces of metal in there.

This is were I used a step drill for the firewall bushing.

I was going to use this area just having a 4 gauge power wire exposed in the wheel well made me nervous.

Appreciate the input guys!  On a previous car I had the 4 gauge power wire running through the wheel well and had no issues for 4 or 5 years.

Thanks for the link.

What route did you end up taking once you got through the firewall?  Just pull up the trim along one of the sides until you were in the trunk I assume?
