Hi, new to the ecoboost. I've owned my 2010 MKT for about a month. Made a trip from my home in MI to my parents in MN for Christmas. 750ish miles each way. Got home on the 24th. Fired it up on the 26th and within 10 minutes had an overheat condition. Limped home after filling the degas. Found over 4 gallons in the crankcase. My research tells me water pump? Also suggested by a ford tech that it's time for a new motor. So, I picked up a used motor to drop in for now but I'd like to know if there's documentation and parts on doing a rebuild on the 3.5?
I'll start a new thread in the next few days. Just on a mission now searching for more info.
This is how I found this forum. Great reading material!

Welcome to EBPF, half-full, quite some adventure already!  Don't think I have seen this scenario on an EB yet, but yeah, water pump or blown head gasket(s) would be the primary culprits.  Could also be a crack in the engine block, which HAS happened occasionally.  I don't think the oil cooler lines run through the radiator?  But the turbos ARE water and oil cooled.  Hard to tell if the engine needs to be replaced without a full teardown.  How many miles on the MKT?

No rebuild documentation that I know of.  I have only heard of the cases where engines were replaced under warranty.  Maybe one of our members has some info on this situation?
2007 Ford Edge SEL, Powerstop F/R Brake Kit, TXT LED 6000K Lo & Hi Beams, W16W LED Reverse Bulbs, 3BSpec 2.5w Map Lights, 5W Cree rear dome lights, 5W Cree cargo light, DTBL LED Taillights

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

Thanks for the replies and links. I do have a Livernois intake and tuner sitting here, ready to go in,,, It's killing me to not have even had a chance to install it. Super six is news to me, thanks for that. I'm looking for info to do the stock build myself with the assistance of a local builder.

The MKT is stock now and has 108k. The motor I picked up has 78k on it. My intentions are to have a tuned, fun daily driver. I did ask LMS for a ball park on their mildest build. Still a but much as I'm not sure how much I really want to do to the MKT.
