my last 2 tanks, I went into the yellow, and dte was down to 20's. both times I filled up (I fill up every tank), and it took less than 16 gallons. being that we have a 19.5 gallon tank, this seems a bit odd to me. I get gas every 2 days, as my commute to work is 73 miles each way. I'd like to eek out as much as possible!

Sounds about right, that 20 you had dte was one gallon plus 2ish in reserve when you get to zero.

Aside from the fact that the urge to run the tank too low should be resisted (damage to fuel pump in long run) ...

Check to see if any codes are set, but there may be dirt around the fuel filler area that needs to be cleaned out.  If there are EVAP codes set, then the purge valve may need to be replaced.  Overfilling (past 2 clicks of the nozzle) can sometimes cause RAW fuel to enter the EVAP system, which in turn causes the nozzle to click off early.

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

There's 2 full gallons after DTE hits zero???  Don't feel bad about getting it down to 5 miles today.  But I was sweating a little as I pulled off the freeway.  I am glad I didn't know that or I may have pushed it further.

The problem is that the number continues to display 0, so you are guessing at the mpg.  Maybe you can get the instantaneous mpg from Torque or OBDLink to assist.

I normally don't go below 1/4 tank. just happened that way the last 2 tanks. I was just worried because I had an issue with my awd flex where the sender was reading wrong, so the car would shut off while driving, yet there would be 4-5 gallons left in the tank. replaced the pump, both senders and the crossover tube, and it fixed the problem, but it was expensive!
