Hello again! I just changed my PTU fluid. It was kind of dark, but not terribly stinky. Also, I noted there wasn't much gunk on the fill plug, just simple wipe and it was good. After filling until dribbled out of the fill hole, while level on jackstands in my garage. I tightened everything up and drove her around the block. It doesn't seem like anything has changed, but at least I have the piece of mind that my PTU is now running Amsoil! I also changed the engine oil... they were taking it to FIRESTONE! I have no clue what they were putting in it, so I'm definitely I filled her up with Amsoil! I was a bit paranoid about doing the PTU fluid since my plug was so clean. Thank you for the PDF write up! I also would like to mention I used a normal extension, and then two wobble extensions. I had zero problems getting to the fill plug using this. Thank you everyone for your advice. Now, if I did it wrong, at least it will blow up under warranty rofl! Is there any thing I should look for as far as signs of failing PTU because I did it wrong?

Sounds like you did it just right!  Great news that the PTU fluid was not gunky, the Amsoil transfusion should help keep it that way.

That's quite a relief to hear! I am going to drive it around some more, and make sure everything sounds good. Amsoil is EXPENSIVE! I hope it's worth it.

No doubt, from everything I have heard.  The oils being synthetic in nature is behind the cost, plus any proprietary additives.

If it makes you feel any better, WalMart's Super Tech brand is $11.37/quart.

I'm sure you did it right and you really won't notice a difference just like your engine should feel the same after an oil change.  It's just good knowing that you have clean oil in there.

The only thing you might notice is some oil dripping, but that's only if it's overfilled.  I believe if it's overfilled, it can drip out of a vent hole.  You said it was filled on a level surface, so I'm sure you did fine.

And call me crazy, but i actually like the smell of gear oil.
