Vibration

I have vibration at highway speeds that I just cannot seem to solve. Its not out of balance wheels or out of round tires, has happened with 2 different sets of balanced wheels and tires, and its not the rotors because I have replaced those already. The only thing I can think of is my wife hit a curb last winter pretty hard on the passenger side rear. Any idea what would be back there that could cause this?

glock-coma

I had a similar prob a few years ago. It was a pulsing vibration that would start around 55 and almost completely go away at 80.
The dealer replaced almost every component in the rotating driveline.
Ended up being a bad Rear drive unit also known as differential.

Ouch, That sounds expensive! Sometimes its worse than others and the ride in general is not as smooth as you would  think it should be for as expensive as it costs. Was yours the same way?

Is it constant vibration,or at certain speeds??  Z

It is a constant vibration  but it happens at different speeds, could be at 80 one day and 50 the next. I also get the wohwohwoh from both sets of tires in sync with the vibration which led me to believe it was the wheels and tires until I put on my new winter set and it happens with them too.

Could be the RDU, like glock said, and the driveshaft is now transmitting the sound/vibration to the front.  I'd have the rear axles, RDU, and driveshaft checked out.

Have you checked the shock on the corner that hit curb?

SHOdded- I'm in PA and we have state inspections which mine just went through last Friday, wouldn't they check that since it's a major component? Is this something that would be covered under warranty?

SHOnUup- I inspected it as soon as we got home after it happened and it looked fine. I even had the wheel tested to make sure that it was not bent. Could something have happened that I can't visually see?

Dont know anything about PA state inspections, but the damage we are talking about is likely not visible/easily discovered.  Should be covered under the 5/60 powertrain warranty, though.

Definitely could've, I'd check it again for fluid leaking.

Where exactly am I looking for fluid at? I am located about 25 minutes south of Pittsburgh. I check for codes daily and nothing shows up.

Fluid would be on the shock housing, most likely leaking from the upper are as down.
