This may be a stupid question but over the weekend I put both turbos to vent to atmosphere. Sounds awesome but my question being why do the turbos spool only when I am driving and not in park or neutral? Probably a dumb question but wanted to see what you guys thought.

The turbos requires a load on the engine in order to spool up.

Also, the only stupid question is the one not asked...not matter how silly you might think it is.  :D

Actually the turbos spool, but without a load (call tor torque) boost is not built up and is just dumped, so there's no perceived blowoff.  When the car is under even mild load (moderate daily driving will do) the charge pipes are pressurized and that's the sound you hear.  It's why there is a launch rpm for every EB car.

Thanks guys, just didnt understand why you see vids of people revving their engine to show their BOV sound and when I did it in the SHO nothing happened. Thought I might have done something wrong. Thanks

This car knows everything ..it knows where u work, what u eat, where you poop..it's very smart...no real reason to make boost when u free rev..a lot of cars that blow off when free revving are cars that have manual boost controllers.

I'm sure u could make the car do it but u would have to have the boost solenoid  keep the wastegates closed that would force all the exhaust gases through the turbos which would create boost...everything would need to be done through tuning since the boost control solenoid are electronically controlled by the computer

Those people are doing brake rev--put it in drive, hold the brake to floor, and hit the throttle and then release it (rev it to about 3k). You will then get the BOV sound; have to put load on turbo in order to do it.

Not really..there is nothing u can do to put load on a turbo...wastegate dynamics determine what the turbo will do...if the car is programmed in a way to allow the wastegates to close at idle and during free rev then boost will build

Brake boosting may satisfy the parameters needed to make boost.

I've made a tune that turns our car into a naturally aspirated sho...so when u do that there is no way to put load on a turbo

Do you get any turbo lag set that way? ... Or problems with launching?

Faster turbo.  & no issues launching.
