WOW that's a shame....I have the stainless catless downpipes and I had to relocate the bung also....I can't believe they didn't address this by now. I had mine last year and told them about it, I guess they shrugged it off

I agree. My installer called Stainless direct and they still have stock of these old pipes. Its crazy that they didn't revise these for the 2013+. SMH

No. When you google PPE down pipes, you get crap for results. The PPE site doesn't even have the Taurus SHO listed as an available option.

I got frustrated googling (it takes me 45 seconds on the internet to find pretty much anything... if it takes longer they lose my business.), so I just went with Stainless Steel Works.

The DPs are $800? Stainless Steelworks are $570. I can have mine installed + modified for less than the cost of the PPE.

I just hope no one orders the Stage 3 (stainless works)catted DP cause those will set off a code in a heartbeat, due to the poor quality cats and as mentioned earlier the bung is on the wrong side of the piping which preferably a welder is going to charge an extra fee to relocate and cover up the existing hole, with the extra labor, fee you can add on top of that cheap price of the DP which ultimatly at the end it wont be cheap anymore.  Z  BTW wish they invested some more time on better cats or better yet update the bung hole for the o2 rather than focus on there logo on the DP .

I'm sure stainless works will correct it ..it's just a shame they didn't take it seriously when I called and others called but that's there problem now.

And the check engine light has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the cats...in fact they are probably higher flowing than any of the other catted piped if they throw a cel so easily which I don't know that they do for sure..

If they throw a cel it's because they are less dense in material. They could be 400 cell per inch which would mean they flow more but are less efficient at cleaning emissions than a 600 cell per inch cat

Thats the reason i changed them in the first place because of the cheap quality cats to go along with there cheap price, after two days of driving stock tune two codes were set(BOTH FOR PO420-422)and my car was only a few months old so guessing it was the cats with a broken substrate.  Z

Z your codes were for catalyst efficiency...that has nothing to do with quality ....if there isn't enough material then the cats won't do what they are supposed to....the reason for that is trying to produce less restriction which is why people buy performance cats...u can't really have the cake and eat it ...if u have cats that don't set codes then they most likely flow less than catted pipes that aren't emission friendly

Now if u are super smart and all knowing like me then you can have the best of both worlds and have race pipes and pass everything....don't hate

Certainly isn't "smart" to openly advertise the (illegal) circumvention of emission's protocols.

Way to go there aj :ok:

Back to the thread... I ordered my Catted DP's from Livernois the other day.  Looking forward to getting them in the next week.  Hopefully I won't run into any issues with the O2 sensors like the Stainless Works pipes.  The only thing I'm really worried about is getting the bolts off the existing DP's.  Cars got about 8k miles on it now, and I've only had this since Dec 2014.

Remember when I said this???? I do. Man am I regretting my Stainless Works Purchase.

I think your LMS or PPE Catted DPs are the right way to go.

Well, I got my LM downpipes installed today.  Received them a few weeks back but just didn't have time to get them installed.   I was a bit concerned with the turbo bolts coming out, so on this one I decided to look around at having someone else do the work.  I had called some performance shops in the area, and I either got differed to other shops, refused, or no call backs.  So I took it over to my local Ford dealer in Roselle, and the service manager was very receptive to doing the job.  Gave me a fair price for just under 3 hours of work.  The tech working on it was very impressed by the quality of the DP's, and said I've installed aftermarket items for others before, but these were probably the easiest ones to work on.  They fit perfect with no modifications needed.  I've been discussing with the service manager about the mods I've made, he seemed to like the setup so much that he ordered a tune from Livernois for his wife's F150.  Glad to have a dealer willing to work with me on this when needed.

By the way, the DP's are a real hoot to drive.  I hear a bit more turbo whine now, and the acceleration response improved a lot, pulls great on a 93 octane 3 bar tune.  Plus theres just a little bit more rumble you can feel from before the swap
