Has anyone tried that new seafoam aerosol for cleaning their intake valves? I would not expect it to clean off alot of caked on junk but if you spray it through the intake at something like 2000 RPM should it clean off a light amount of contaminants?

I was told to stay FAR away from this stuff on the SHO. It will cause MAJOR problems with the car!

"About two weeks ago I watched a buddy pour a can of Sea Foam through the intake of his 2013 F-150 EcoBoost to "clean out the carbon". About 2 days later it was pouring white smoke out the pipes and had no power. The end result was new heads, new turbos (toasted seals) and the cats were shot as well, wouldn't pass emissions anymore."

I don't use it... but it sounds like he but it in the turbo feed.... recs from the manufacturer are the TB just ahead of the manifold... still the intake valves don't get cleaned.

I don't think any solvent cleaning will solve the valve deposit challenges of direct injection which is why BMW, Audi and others suggest manual cleaning procedures like walnut shell blasting.  With that being said I know Audi twin turbo guys who for years Have been Seafoaming their cars without any horror stories of it causing turbo failures or engine damage so the ecoboost horror stories I have heard I believe to be caused by user error.

I have yet to use SeaFoam in the SHO, but use it for all my other cars. I use it in the fuel, crank case/ oil, and intake (before TB as mentioned). I personally love the stuff but cannot attest to its impact on the EB platform yet.
