More issues with Cyl. #6 misfire and O2 sensors!

So I've been getting the cylinder 6 misfire virtually every time I accelerate hard, and this weekend it started to show the #1 bank upstream O2 sensor fault (second one in 10k miles, different sensor thought)! I plugged up torque and watched the fuel system status and after a hard acceleration it would show "open loop due to system failure" for a few minutes and would begin its typical stumbling, then eventually I would get the #6 misfire. It would generally happen like that, but sometimes id get one or the other. If the injector is causing that cylinder to run very rich, I guess it could shorten the lifespan of an O2 sensor, no? Not even sure it the #1 upstream is in line with the #6 cylinder..

Not sure about the O2 sensor... maybe oil fouling it.  The misfire symptoms do cause me to think about the carbon problem symptoms discussed in an article Manu posted earlier today...If it is and you are still in warranty Ford will replace the heads on your engine.

Have you tried replacing the #6 injector yet?  Don't want to be driving around with bad injectors and blow up the cats.  Also, bank 1 is #1,2,3, bank 2 is #4,5,6 cylinders.

What are the fuel trims you are seeing around the time of the error popping up, and at the time of the misfire?  Do you have logs that you can post?  And did you scan for codes?  If the PCM is going bad, you will see lots of erratic behavior and maybe even no codes.

I must reiterate that the fact the problems have been around so long, and seem to be growing, is a warning sign that you need to find a competent service shop locally to look at these issues.  Are there no Lincoln dealerships you can approach?  Call the Lincoln assistance number also to see if they can help you out.

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

My car had to be towed to the dealer Saturday because of a cyl 6 misfire at idle and low fuel pressure while cranking. Once the car cooled off, it wouldn't restart. I'm guessing an injector is stuck open as I had white smoke out the exhaust, and a strong fuel odor.

Sounds like possible xs fuel, but the white smoke makes me think of oil too... be sure the cats aren't killed

I will. I never got a blinking check engine light or even a solid engine light.
