any updates to this issue? I think this is my problem.
or it might be something else altogether that i didn't see searching through here breifly
I've been running torries 93 octane tune for a few months now.
i think during the past few weeks i let my OCC over-fill.
but I have a P0012 code (VCT solenoid bank 1 over-retarded).
it makes a sputter/ticking noise like a card in a bicycle wheel. it did it every now and again early when i start to get on the throttle, or turn. code tripped MIL, I hooked my OBD link to it and cleared codes, but it stayed in there as a permanent code although MIL went out.
i cleaned my OCC connections and made sure hoses were unobstructed in case that was causing problems.
i took it to work, reset the PCM and cleared keep-alive memory. now it only does the sputter when first starting up, i think before the engine gets to operating temp...
any ideas i've read about a TSB for something like this, i saw this thread. posting here hoping for input.
i've looked into replacing the solenoid for GP to hopefully prevent further problems, but the solenoid is like $80 and changing it requires a new valve cover gasket also ($14). of course those are dealership prices... not including the 4 hours of labor if I don't do it myself.
P0012 code is now hit and miss but does not trip MIL. I've had up to 30 degrees difference between desired and actual VCT angle running a forscan PID monitor just driving to work, but MIL has still not re-illuminated.
