Motorcraft full synthetic = poop ..it shears something terrible and loses viscosity in a short time verified by used oil analysis

It's not really synthetic...its hydrocracked refined petroleum ..group III

What u want is group IV/V that's the true synthetic base stock...most of the synthetics on the shelf at the store is fake synthetic including Mobil 1....big oil has successfully pulled the sheets over everyone's heads...

It's kind of a loop hole that's been fully taken advantage of by big oil

I was thinking of switching oils. What would you recommend that wouldn't void warranty?

Well after some of the stuff I've been reading it's hard not to run amsoil. Also according to some reports of claims against ford, they can't void a warranty even if u don't use an oil that doesn't meet their spec and or is Api certed...but that's all a non issue now as amsoils entire line meets fords specs.

From the sound of it amsoil finally just figured it was worthwhile to get the certification to stop the people from having the excuse of don't use amsoil because it's not certified ...I didn't know this but not all of royal purple is synthetic...only their top tier oil is...

Read up on group Iv/v oils...I always thought Castrol syntec and edge and mobil 1 were top tier until I read up on it

I'm not really an amsoil lover but I do like them....it looks like any of the companies that use true synthetic base stocks as in group IV/V oil u really can go wrong with...like redline amsoil and royal purple top shelf.

Amsoil also has a cheaper line as well it's called oe and xl..look on their website and select by model

While most synthetics lubricate well... I use Amsoil Signature synthetic... Because it surpasses about everything in it's NOAC volatility rating.  This is important int the 3.5TT GDI because ford empties the PCV blowby directly into the turbo (front) intake  pipe. I don't want my turbo coking up... I also went to VTA on the BoVs to avoid recycling that stuff through my turbos.  Most people with a really working catch can have posted here about all the volatilized oil that condenses in them.

So I do like Amsoil Signature and go to the trouble and expense to get it... I have 100k prepaid maintenance on the SHO through Ford... I take them the Amsoil at oil changes because I believe it is worth it....

but shouldn't we be talking tires in this thread?

Yes big mac we should lol....but u are spot on amsoil signature is great oil it's all I use...I'm a freak tho because I put it in my lawnmower. If u get a preferred customer membership u get amsoil at wholesale price and it's really not bad and if u use the oils the length of time recommended it's really not anymore than what's on the shelf cost wise

If ur not first, ur last.......mods: BOV VTA conversion,93 Octane 3 bar tune from Unleashed Tuning,  blue LEDs inside, white outside. 2 JBL GTI Mkii 12" subs, Planet Audio BB2400.1, Big 3, kinetic 1200 deep cycle batt.

:jacked: I use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w-30 full synthetic. If it's good enough for stock, Ferraris, SRT Vipers and Hellcats...then it's good enough for the SHO. Uhhh tires...I'll probably switch over to Michelin after I burn through the crappy stock F1s.

Sure it's good enough but there is better stuff out there if u want the best.

And it's really a loop hole and a technicality that some of these oils are allowed to be called synthetic as they are still just refined petroleum  and not a true synthetic base stock as in a group IV/ V

I was considering ultra platinum and amsoil for my oil change in 1000 miles. Looks like I'll be going with amsoil. But I guess anything is better then the motorcraft full synthetic
