REFLASHING THE PCM

Went to the dealer the other day to order a valve cover,not knowing that i had a TSB 140105 to reflash the PCM,basically to update the computer and reset everything,in general if your having issues with your car always consult with your service advisor in regards to any TSB and follow up on them,they will not notify you,only recalls,heres a little video i came across to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39IaVoc0EHs

Keeping up with the info on the owner.ford.com site will also let you know what TSBs/recalls apply to your vehicle. If you want to know about ALL TSBs/recalls, you will need to get an online subscription.

I'm curious, after the warranty period is up, are the update free?

Cror1 best of my knowledge the update is only while your warranty is active,recalls in the otherhand are always covered.

Any TSB,technical service bulletin should be addressed and and followed up within there warranty period,if your vehicle is within its warranty period,repair as outlined by the TSB is paid for by the manufacturer,IF THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY THE CUSTOMER IS LIABLE,RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS,so basically try to get them addressed before your warranty is up,hope this helps someone.

Had the car at the dealer over a week ago for TSB 140105 replash the PCM,the senior tech is a buddy of mine and informed him that the car has been sluggish for quite a while know,all i have to say is the beast is back,it rips out in second like never before and seems alot faster,the only thing that found upsetting was this morning heard a rattle and found part of the upper steering column loose,any one experience this?thanks.

Did you tune it back to stock, or left it moded as in your signature when you took it back?

So, is tearing apart the steering column the new way of re-flashing? That stinks, but having more pep in the skinny pedal sounds good!

Honestly put it back to stock always,especially if they have to reflash your PCM,calibrate it,went home and put back the 3-bar sensor and loaded the tune back,but took longer than usual because of the reflash.

While driving the kids to school this am,had this annoying rattle,and was able to lift the plastic column up with eaz.

On the bumpy roads and with the colder weather, plastic console and around the sunroof, it cracks/squeaks...I hate that, everytime it happens a thought that crosses my mind is I paid $50k for this s***, ttt. Never again.

In reference to writing your tune back after having the PCM reflashed, do you have to send your X4 files back to tuner to rewrite the new code so you can upload your tune again?

Is your car tuned? ,To make it simple and basic when you put back your 3-bar sensor,all you have to do is install your tune back in,that rewrites the PCM thats why it took longer than usual to install,dont have the x4,thats for 10-12 SHO'S ONLY.

Only if the strategy code has changed. You should ask the service writer (if you have a good relationship with them), otherwise definitely use the tuner to check your strategy code before uploading a tune file. If the strategy code has changed, send the new code to your tuner for update. Reload the updated tune when you get it.

Are you referring to the 4X tune by Livernois? Z is correct, that is for '10-'12s only. '13+ get some version of the V8 tune.

A little confusing, since the SCT tuner has X3 and X4 devices, so not sure which tuner you are referring to

I don't have one yet, but most likely I will be getting an sct x4 or HPtuners through unleashed. so I was just curious what happens when the strategy code changes with the reflash. and what happens if the code changes, and you don't relize that but you try to upload a tune?

Honestly i have heard only good things about Torrie,based on your last post,give him a call and before your ready to purchase your tune,see if he satisfys your questions that you may have,of course with a 3-bar tune,good luck.
