jmr061, I just read my last comment and it came off a little hot handed. That's not my intention, stupid forums you can't tell attitude in posts (actually my wife pointed it out). I appreciate you looking in to it. This is just what the dealer told me as well. But like you I also like to know exactly what is up with my vehicle, that is why I'm a little ticked that they couldn't even tell me at the dealer what they ordered to try and fix. I'll post the update next week after the appointment

No offense taken. I just hope they didn't send you home with a defective restraint system. That's a liability issue.  It would be interesting to know what part is bad and I agree that they should have been able tell you what they ordered.

Speaking of defective restraints. Twice now my 4 year old has broke his inflatable seatbelt in the second row. If my 4 year old can break the locking mechanism while trying to buckle it in, how in the actual hell would it hold up in an accident? I'm very concerned by this and that will be getting replaced once again next week as well (hopefully)

Ok so a quick update on this. Oh first I'll start by saying they sent me home in my explorer with non functional airbags. Here I am 10 days later and they finally got me back in to do whatever the repair is, they still can't tell me what it is! So I just gave the guy a little piece of advise about not letting people leave their parking lot with non functional airbags (still  original factory warranty as well) on said vehicle because if I were to have been hit and my airbags didn't deploy they would be looking at a lawsuit. All they said was yea sorry about that. So I asked again what part was being repaired/replaced and the service guy still couldn't tell me. He said he'll let me know when he finds out. I've been here 30mikes now and still haven't been told what it is

Yea shame on me for coming here, I knew better, it just happened to be the best one closest to my house. There is one a couple miles from where I live but they suck all around. This one I'm at now has great sales but their service department is garbage. I recently moved a couple cities over from where I had lived previously but back in that city they have the better service department. I say better because they had bent my wheel well fender when they were rotating my tires that had just been put on brand new 1 week before at the dealership I'm currently at. They tried half assing it and I had to argue with 2 different managers about it until the finally repaired it. Anyway because the air bag light had gone off (because I kept clearing it so my airbags would work) they couldnt tell what the issue was. So unfortunately I have to deal with all hohum dealerships and have to see different ones for different services. It's literally a FML situation with Ford dealerships around here

Wow, sorry to hear that.  They aren't doing Ford any favors giving the customer such a bad experience, that too on basic things.  Do they have a CSR over on the Explorer forum?  You could bend their ear.  I know the Flex, Edge, BlueOval etc forums have representation on there.

I no longer frequent the explorer forum because of its stock is best mantra and endless trolling. So they finally told me they had to replace the second row passenger inflatable seatbelt. My 4 year old has actually broken the latch twice on the driver side seatbelt just by buckling it in. I am concerned that because he has managed to break it twice already how well would it actually hold up in an accident. He's 4 he is no roid junkie so that he has broken it so easily just boggles my mind. Now they have replaced the passenger side. I have searched and even asked different dealerships if they had ever encountered this issue and no one has. The only positive side of any is that I asked about what would I do if I was out of warranty and this issue arose again, they said because it's  documented they would still cover it as part of their customer appreciation/loyalty program. Still doesn't make me feel any better about its durability though. For now I have gone back to buckling my child in again

Time for a DIY dissection of the seat latch?

It's literally a piece of plastic and a spring that renders the seatbelt latch inoperable. Seeing how fragile it is I'm not going to dissemble it now that it's fixed again but if it happens again then I'll definitely take a closer look at it
