PPE Downpipe Install Question

Just about completed my install of a set of PPE catted downpipes. The front DP was almost an inch too short from the rear flange the connects to the 3rd cat. All the hardware was loose and it wasn't hitting anything. I had to use a longer bolt to pull it up tight to the flange. Now there's no flex left in the flex pipe. Anyone else have this same situation? The rear DP was fine.

Did you verify with 4DRHTRD that they are the correct DP'S for your SHO?,Email him he responds back in matter of minutes.

They are the correct downpipes, usually you just connect loosely to turbo and then connect to the factory catback and then tighten up all the bolts. Shoot me an email and I'll forward to Paul to respond.

I confirmed with two other members that they had the same problem.
Is there a concern about stress cracks forming somewhere from the DP forward due to the lack of any flex?

I did my car twice with differnt sets of DP'S and never came across having those issues,as far as stress on 409 stainless steel, would not stress it,any concerns you might have just email him,he is known for his top notch service and products that i have been accustomed to.

No cracks or leaks after a year of lead footing it .... With large engine torque roll.  I have the first set sold on my SHO still. Same day these went on I had two other sets on and off the SHO for fitment at PPE during development.... None of the fitment problems described occurred.  Be sure to follow 4DR's suggestion... Paul is a stand-up guy.

I just installed my PPE catted pipes this weekend and did not have that issue. My only pain was getting out one of the o2 sensors, the threads were all galled up, probably from install at the factory, and had to keep tightening it up and then loosening until I got it out. It fought me the whole way and half of the threads were gone off the sensor when I got it out. Of this was the front one you have to remove to get at the bolt on the stock pipes.

I followed up with 4DR (Mike) on Monday, just waiting on a response.

Odd that a few have had a short pipe but others haven't.

I'll follow-up once we figure it out.

If the pipe wasn't short I wouldn't be concerned about stress cracks somewhere pre-3rd cat, but with the lack of flex I'm a little concerned.

Thanks for the replies.

I don't remember seeing and can't find an email from you - please send me something over to info@ecopowerparts.com - if you use the domain ecoboostpowerparts.com it goes to Ford now. :(

Hi,
Sorry you are having a problem with the front pipe. If you would like, you can send it back and we can re-make the end. You can contact me directly at: paul.prentis@ppeengineering.com and we can figure out how to get it taken care of for you.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I am looking to buy a set of factory catalytic converters for 2013/2014 sho. If anyone would be willing to sell ship them let me know. Or a meeting a within a reasonable distance.

ZSHO

I had an issue a while back with one of the hotpipes taking to long to arrive,Paul Prentis was honestly courteous and very profesional and stated that they are custom made for your vehicle and will be shipped out soon, few days later receive it by fed express, thats why i also purchased the DP'S cause of the quick supportive response of Mike.B and Paul.P and thats why i continue to support this forum because of these guys and who could forget SHOdded and will also be donating soon, trying to setup my paypal account, thank you.
