Needless to say, the guy was really sorry, and wanted to try and see if he could pay out of pocket after I get an estimate done. I told him it might be pretty expensive since even my exhaust got bent. The body shop did a pre estimate and saw that the tail lights are not in place and even the spare tire well was impacted from the bumper getting smashed in. So the conservative, pre estimate came out to about $5800. Like I thought, the guy ended up choosing to go through insurance instead.
On a good note, since the exhaust has to be changed, I'm getting the new black tip Corsa exhaust. Going to order PPE downpipes too, but debating on with cats or no cats. No emissions testing in Hawaii.
