SHO-Time

Hello all,

My name is Mike and I will be picking up my new white 2013 SHO w/o PP within the next few hours. My SHO was a leftover 13 that's been sitting in the dealer's showroom for the past two years. It only has 100 miles on it and I got if for an absolute steal. I've been lurking on a handful of SHO forums for the past couple of weeks and looks like the LMS stage 4+ tune and K&N drop-in filter seem to be the popular "must do" mods.

My brother-in-law has a Livernois tuned 2014 SHO PP and after driving it for a few minutes, I knew it would only be a matter of time until I owned one as well. I'm coming over from the sport compact side of the world, so the Taurus will definitely take some adjustment. I've owned a 2012 APR Stage II VW GTI Autobahn Edition, 2010 Evo MR touring Edition and a couple of Dodge SRT4s. I'm definitely ready for a little bit more comfort, space and luxury. Obviously having a land yacht that has the potential to dip into the 12s is cool thing to have.

Still have the Evo X MR (Wife's car)

Great find!
Welcome!   :hi:  Glad to have you aboard!

Of course, with LMS you'll be dealing with the v8 tune in a '13. If you decide on the K&N CAI don't do it for increased performance... In my '13 we have dynos showing no difference in the OEM CAI and No intake/filter (we just disconnected it completely) as far as WHP and WTQ... It does make nice eye candy and changes turbo sound... but it my actually hurt performance as many have seen before they returned to stock.

Enjoy... I love the sleeper with quiet, comfort, and a near 4 sec 0-60... you will too

Thanks fellas. This day is moving very slowly...I want my freakin car! I'm going to enjoy the SHO stock for a couple of weeks, but I'm sure I'll have it tuned by the end of June. I'll post up some pics as soon as I get the car and remove all dealer decals.

Welcome to the community & congrats on your new SHO!  You guys will have fun racing your SHOs head to head :)  Whether you choose LMS or Unleashed for tuning, tuning is THE biggest bang for your buck.  At the very least, make sure the plugs are gapped to 0.030, turbo piping is secure, etc. before you pop in the tune.

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

Here are a couple of quick pics I took last night. I removed the front plate bracket, debadged "Taurus" from the rear end and did the VTA blow-off mod. Next up is the Livernois tune and some window tint. How many of you guys are running the RX catch can?

Mike....Looks like your off to a great start modding... Looking good!!
If you're going to tune, I strongly recommend getting a 3BAR MAP sensor and tell them to add 3BAR adjustment to your tune...

It is worth as much as a .47 sec lowering of the time in the 1/4 mile and will likely give you a sub 4 sec 0-60 compared to the same tune without a 3BAR.... 2 minutes, 1 screw, 1 electrical plug... plus it's right on top of the mainifold... easy.  Times quoted are with LMS tunes on SHO and MKS from '10 - '14 ...'13 up with the LMS v8 tune your planning.

The OEM Ford 3BAR sensor is $52.80 at Tasca.  It's the best price I could find when I ordered my back-up 3BAR:

A picture of the location is in the third pic in my hotpipe install thread at:

That's our BiGMaC for ya :)  A few people are running RX catch cans, not a huge user base yet, but definitely done on the Flex, X, and I think the SHO also.  Results seem to vary based on location of the cans themselves.  The coolest location (fenderwell or thereabouts) has given the greatest yield on 1 installation (JimiJak's X).

Another place to examine for nefarious vapors is the CAC/intercooler.  Again, results will vary, but some pretty impressive drainage (originally documented by ShoBoat) has been seen there.

Running a quality, full synthetic oil may contribute to a decrease in this particular concern, based on empirical data.
