New Key FOB

Is it possible to use the key fob from a 2013-newer taurus or explorer? I have an extra one from my dads company car (2013 Explorer Limited). My car only came with one key fob, and its not in the best condition. So can the newer model key be programed to work with my 2011 Taurus SHO?

You should be able to use it. the FOB is not program but the car is program to add the new FOB.

How I know. Lost a FOB had to get a new 3rd FOB, later found the 1st FOB but it no longer worked because the dealer turn that FOB off when I got the 3rd FOB. For $25 reprogram I now have 3 FOB's.

Didn't work. It has a different FCC id. Looks like I'll have to sell it and buy the correct one
