personally, if they made it into a hatch version this could turn out to be intresting. If the new Lincoln can fit a 3.7L V-6, then i picture a Fusion ST can fit a 3.5L ecoBoost... but that would take sales away from the SHO if the builds were the same.
So that means ford would have to develope a new ecoBoost engine... something like a twin-turbo 4.0L V-8 engine... ;D. Yes sir.
2011 Taurus SHO... factory for now.

It would be fun to have a 3.5EB in an st... And massively overpowered...lol!

What about the new 2.7l V6 ecoboost they are developing for the F150? Surley that will fit in a Fusion and stock its reported to be around 310hp....tuned it would ramp up nicely :)

I am a big fan of the Fiesta and Focus ST, but feel they are really missing out w/o AWD. That's something they could really do with a Fusion ST coupled with a 2.7 EcoBoost.

If the rumors are true and the Taurus is moving to a extended Fusion platform, then a new SHO should be significantly lighter and would also be a very fun car (not that the current one isn't). Perhaps they could even offer a manual!

That pretty much sums up my automotive dreams! Haha.

Lighter SHO will be great (if they keep making them when they go to the extended Fusion platform). As far as a manual...meh...get the paddle shifters more responsive and put the (in development) 9spd auto in there and you will be good-to-go!!!

^^

you bring up a good point, but i really hope someday (wishful thinking at best...  :-) that Ford developes a V-8 ecoboost. Something small. Like a 4.0L would be perfect in my perspective. I am sure it would perform fine. Something they could use in for f-250 platforms and still get good gas mileage.
If a fusion ST gets an AWD platform, than i am sure it would take sales away from the Mustang,... which is something I don't picture seeing.

Ideally Ford or Lincoln should build a RWD sedan to compete with the ATS and the 3 Series.

It's a market they currently simply aren't a player in. I doubt it would rob a whole lot sales from current vehicles. But it would mostly attract people that would normally go for ATS/CTS, 3 Series/5 Series, A4/5/6, just to name a few.

agreed. A lincoln coup would be a start. Anyone remember the Mark series? ... and after this year. What is ford going to do with their 5.8 S/C engine??.. all that power gone to waste... it's sad indeed. I would love to see it droped in some type of big lincoln coup that would compete with the CTS-V.... but again, a plaform like that would take sales away from the Mustang i'm sure.

The V, power-wise, is based on the Vette.  So theoretically, Lincoln could come up with a sedan/coupe/wagon that is based on the strongest power offering in the Mustang lineup.  Hardly a daunting task as far as engineering & design is concerned, but most likely held back by financial decisions.
2007 Ford Edge SEL, Powerstop F/R Brake Kit, TXT LED 6000K Lo & Hi Beams, W16W LED Reverse Bulbs, 3BSpec 2.5w Map Lights, 5W Cree rear dome lights, 5W Cree cargo light, DTBL LED Taillights

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

Ford did the Raptor, very successfully I might add, it brought recognition to a truck that is already the nations best seller, time to bring some recognition to the Lincoln brand with a CTS-V competitor. Not only will it be an awesome car, but it'll get people talking about Lincolns again, get them into dealerships, I am a firm believer that the CTS-V is helping Cadillac sell cars.

After lots of reasearch the 3.5EB AWD powetrain WILL fit into the Fusion .
The 2014 + Lincoln MKZ  can be bought with the 3.7 Duratec in AWD .
The Duratec mounts in tbe bay the same as the base 3.5 and 3.5 EB do in the SHO.

It would require minor IC improvements over the 4 banger EB  for more flow capacity.
Some Front end suspension and  braking mods woulld be needed as well .

Ford could do it if they choose too.

I'd name it the SVT Fusion .
2013 SHO  ....  not mine anymore

That would be one hell of a project, you'd have to REALLY want it, haha. I wish electronics these days were not as complicated as they are, or if they do have to be, it'd be nice if they were more flexible with engine swaps. I suppose this is where standalone ECU's come into play.
