Does anyone know the benefits of installing a 3 bar map sensor from Torrie and can you use an email tune with it? I already have K&N CAI, plugs and X4. Looking to purchase the 3 bar map sensor and down pipes from Stage 3 Motorsports.

Regardless of tuner chosen.... both major tuners have adjustments for the 3BAR MAP that they can just send/download to you... if they didn't your car might not even start.  BTW SW was correct... the $85 RockAuto is turning out to be the correct Ford part, so you can save a $40-$50 ordering it there....

Benefits are:.... 2BAR cannot read or communicate boost above about 14.5psi to the ECU.  3BAR can communicate up to about 29psi.  Your stock turbos probably are incapable of boost over 17psi, but may folks are frequently seeing 16 psi.   The tune is about letting the ECU deal with the information (higher boost) so it is translated into more power, instead of malfunction/DTCs/CELs and wrench lights.

I LOVE my 3BAR tune.... It is a step up from any tune without it...  Why run your turbos to just pump the pressure out the waste gate!?

BTW... try your car with and without the K&N... many... 4DR, bamsho, and others have actually had a reproducible degradation of quarter mile times with the AM CAIs that is fixed in back to back runs, by reverting to stock.   Check out the downpipes thread I put up for more info on this.

so then, how good can a tune be without 3 bar mapping?

all of a sudden, it seems like many are almost saying 'whats the point w/o it?'  ???

I definitely want my car to be faster, but i also want it to be around for a while as my daily driver...

BigMac is correct on this.

To run a 3bar you need to have a custom file written for it or it will not run correctly.

Anything you do to improve performance will cause some degree of faster engine wear.... LMS will err on the conservative side historically... does not mean a sacrifice of performance.... unaware of any engine failures  and some members have been tuned for 40K-50K miles.

I definitely appreciate the info guys. Will definitely look at Livernois down pipes if you had that many issues with Stage 3 zamirlihari.

Whereabouts are you located, RubyRed?  Might be able to save on shipping if close to either Michigan or Texas.  To my knowledge, the top 2 downpipes that pass emissions are from PPE (http://shop.ecoboostpowerparts.com/Ford-Flex-SHO-Lincoln-MKT-MKS-25-Pipe-w-cats-PPESHOCats.htm) and LMS (http://www.livernoismotorsports.com/products/Livernois-Motorsports-EcoBoost-SHO%7B47%7DMKS-Downpipe-%28Catted%7B47%7DOff%252dRoad%29.html).  Many happy customers for each.

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

Well I live in the Tampa Bay area but I'm on assignment for work in Nebraska. I will have the car up here with me next week. I will actually be visiting friends in Louisiana in the near future. Where in Texas?
