Just a dumb question. I have a tune for 100 octane. Wondering how bad it would be on car w/cats to run low on 93 and add a few gallons of 110 leaded to make a few passes at a little tuner event coming up. Then fill tank with unleaded again. Reason being is the closest fuel is 40 miles away and its $70 for a 5gal of 104. 110 is 7 bucks at pump right up street.

Warning

Burning leaded fuel in your catalytic converter-equipped car causes several problems. The lead in the fuel reacts with the metal catalyst in the converter and destroys its function, your car will cause more pollution. Because your car was designed to use a catalytic converter, it won't run as well when the converter is nonfunctional. Continuing to use leaded fuel can cause the converter to build up excessive heat and even catch fire under certain conditions.

I am glad somebody asked this question. I recently saw a race fuel for sale and my son and I were wondering what the effect would be. Thank you all for the explanations. And thank you for asking the question initially.

Ok, I guess the real question is How much is bad? 3 gallons, 3 tanks? 30 tanks?. I know it will screw things up. I was just wondering if one night will kill it. I'm not putting that kinda stress on car all the time. Saving for meth kit tho, Hell I can fart in the tank tomorrow, just did the Quaker Steak wing challange haha. Just wanna crush some more kids egos at the "car scene" event for laughing at the "mini van". And Mike then I can tell the wife my cats are shot and it's cheaper to get catless downpipes

I wouldn't suggest it, not even a tank IMHO.
I've never tried it and wouldn't chance it.

I would take this to heart.  My risk threshold is pretty low. Mike's is not. If he is steering you away, I would heed his advice.  You can always just tell your wife the cats are shot.  Is she actually going to check? ;)

Even just a gallon or two can cause your cats to fail.  I ran like 2-3 gallons in my grand prix and it was enough to cause the light to come on and never to be extinguished again (until i deleted that code!)

Go catless and you won't have to worry about anything but caking your o2 sensors over time.
