I can't reiterate enough, now that this issue has arisen, please show 4DR the respect he has asked for, and PM him any (new) suggested site name(s).

Any alternatives, if deemed too close for comfort so to speak, will likely just be added to the list.

Since this is under scrutiny, it's uber important to listen & adhere to 4DR's requests.

Perhaps Ford would prefer we replace the mfr name with F*** as well?  Sad, perfectly within their rights I suppose, but sad.  Good thing we have not chosen an official banner yet!

Once the lawyers get involved, it's really best to PM 4DR with your ideas. I agree it is upsetting that Ford has made this move, but not surprising, since they have no control over what is posted here using their name.  I am sure that we will get to look at the new name ideas as soon as possible, but I really think we need to control ourselves and PM 4DR with ideas, and give him some time to get this sorted out..

It's simple. Added stress and legal reasons that none of us want 4DR to incur.

Bad enough he's going through what he is, let's respect his request, and do as he says.

Although I understand the basis for your comment, he's asked all members to follow a certain format, and I will ensure that his request is followed to a 'T'.

Legal issues, or any extension there of, can have profound effects/outcomes, as evidenced by this thread alone.

Wow, here you are helping Ford promote their EcoBoost product line / grow their customer base and the best they can do in return is send their lawyers after you? I knew Ford's customer service sucks but I didn't realize FMC takes such a proactive approach to providing bad service. I guess this is just one more reason for me to look at other options when the time comes to replace the SHO, which I plan to do sooner rather than later since the car has been so unreliable. Best of luck dealing with them...

But Ford like other companies spend billions of dollars to create and promote their brand. And they have to protect it as well.  It's actually an unfortunate compliment to 4dr. They can't go after everyone and site out there so once a site hits a certain level and has violations of their copyright and trademark they shut them down... Weather it's all good or bad.  From where they stand, our site has no official representation of fmc and with all the info we discuss (good, bad, true or false) it could have positive and or negative impact on a brand they spent billions to create.
It does suck but good may still come out if this in the end? They are paying attention now.

So why isn't FMC reaching out to establish representation on this forum, comprised of current or potential Ford owners/customers,  instead of sending lawyers to shut it down? In the past I've seen FMC reps participating on other forums. If they're afraid of bad publicity they're sure accomplishing that with this move. They definitely took that Tremor and/or 2015 FX4 off my short list.
