So I take my car into my local dealer, Kistler Ford, for an oil change and to have them replace a leaking axle seal. First day I brought donuts, dropped my car off early and patiently waited for it to be done. I told them what needed to be replaced a week before this appointment... Two hours later the service guy lets me know I am ready to go and that they have to order the seal. ? Wait... I already told them they would need that a week ago... Oh well nobody listens to me anyways. Cool, ill come back when they have it. I make another appointment after a crazy week. Get my gf to let me borrow her car. I bring in my own oil, even though I get free oil changes for a year. You'd think they could gather I am picky from that. Right? So I go to pick my car up at 3pm (it was dropped off at 730am) and they were just finishing. Apparently the first seal they put in was bad, and was leaking again. So they had to source a replacement and then redo everything. All they had left at that point was the oil change. Come back at 4pm. They had changed the oil, but using there own oil... Only reason I found out is because I ask for the bottles back. Service guy asked me if I wanted them to redo it... saying motocraft syn blah blah is a very good oil. I politley said Yes and apologized for being so picky. Come back an hour and the car is finally done. Whew... Get ready to leave and before I even start my car I thought I would pop the hood.... It looked like they took a damn pipe wrench to my cleanside oil separator! Then I went to unscrew it and it broke in half! God forbid someone have to do some thinking to remove a part they are not used to seeing.

So with reluctance the service adviser said they would pay for a replacement which I had to pay for first. And then had the f**king nerve to tell me that I wasted my money, these cars have a great PCV system... I asked if he had seen the inside of these motors with 40k on them. Then he tried to sell me an upper engine cleaning service... IF THE PCV IS SO DAMN GOOD WHY THE HELL WOULD I NEED THAT!?!?!?!

Replacement ordered... Still mad... They will never touch my car again. Big thanks to mike for trying to accommodate me getting a replacement a bit faster.

Geeze. Lol!

You're a Mazdaspeed guy - are these as bad as the MZRs, with soot and carbon deposits on the intake valves?

If so, I'll need to look a little closer into plumbing in an OCC or two.

I can certainly understand your frustration. I've had some disappointing experiences with my local Ford dealers as well. Back in December, I had a TPMS go bad. I scheduled a service appointment with one of the dealerships and they assured me it wouldn't be a problem. An hour or so into the appointment, they pull me from the waiting area and inform me that their "technician" cannot get the car to go into diagnostic mode. They tried to tell me that this was indicative of a faulty security system and that they would have to replace the security module and wiring, which would require removal of the interior. I declined to reschedule and took it to another local dealership. They had no problem diagnosing which sensor was bad. In fact, it only took a few minutes. They didn't have a replacement on hand, so I had to wait on one to be ordered. When the car was finished, I was handed a bill. At this time, the car was still under the factory bumper-to-bumper. They told me the bumper-to-bumper didn't cover the TPMS failure because it was tire-related. Anyway, to make a long story short, the TPMS sensors are absolutely covered under the bumper-to-bumper warranty and Lincoln Service stepped in to take care of the problem. In a few short days, the Ford dealership had a refund check in the mail and Lincoln Service has followed up with me twice to ensure there are no further issues.

They aren't nearly as bad from the pictures I've seen. I do believe it is still bad enough to warrant aftermarket support though.

You need to read the info that was posted by the owner of RX catch cans... It explains why there is such a problem with the carbon deposits and at least most of the solution to the problem via his product.. Make your own choices but his product does seem to be above others in the after market.

The RX can was installed on my Flex, I saw the inside of my intake and valves (borescope) NASTY. Oil dripped out when he popped off the throttle body. Still have about another 100 miles or so till I drain it at 500 miles. I did have the throttle body off this weekend to clean all the sensors and swap out plugs, happy to report the intake was oil free!!! I'm gonna take my wifes new Fusion (200 miles) to get one. be very interesting to see inside of motor after a year with the can on since new.

Sorry to hear about your experience with Kistler Ford.  They seem to be rated well on the 'net, but possibly lack experience with these "specialty" vehicles & certainly don't seem to have EB enthusiast-servicepeople onsite.  Hopefully they got your axle seal leak issue solved.

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

In the end if they take care of it I won't go after them with a bunch of negative reviews and what not. Whoever the tech was is most certainly to blame. Can only be so mad at the service writer for giving info that he was trained to give.
