I have gotten this a couple of time recently, cylinder #5 random misfire. I am curious as to which one is cylinder #5 so I can change that plug and see if it returns. I know I could look it up but I also know someone here knows which one it is. I only get it when I go WOT at around 45-60 mph. It goes great from a dead stop so I am a bit confused. It could also be a leak on the intake but none that I can find so I will go to the next option and that is the plug. Thanks.

I am getting old and forgetting stuff. I remembered how Ford numbers their cylinders, duh, I have only owned Fords for the last 25 years or so. I pulled the plug and it looked good, gap was still at .030 but I replaced it anyways. Plugs are relatively cheap. I went ahead and changed all the plugs while I was at it and they all looked good and were all still at .030. I only have just shy of 5200 miles on the car so far so I did not expect them to look bad. I also double checked the intake connection to make sure they were tight and no leaks, all good there. I also swap the coil on #5 with #6 in case I get the issue again and if it is on cylinder #6 then I know I have a faulty coil.

Just curious if anyone else has had this issue. Like I said from a dead stop no hesitation, car goes like hell. From 45-60 mph if I go WOT this has happened 3 times now in the last month and I have changed nothing on the car. If I only go about 3/4 throttle the car takes off like it is WOT.

It also does not do this every time either just the 3 times so far and if anyone is wondering how the cylinders are numbered they are

I actually had a cylinder 4 misfire same as you when WOT at high mph. What I found was that the spark plug was the issue. I replaced the spark plug and issue was resolved. Gap looked ok on the spark plug and the spark plugged looked ok these were new spark plugs SP 528 that I got from ford. Reading up on these spark plugs they were superseded by SP 534 for random misfire issues. Not sure if this affects you or not.

I had the SP 534's in already when getting the code. Hopefully it will not reoccur anytime soon. Thanks for the info.
