Exactly what "noises" does the factory piece eliminate?
Its just a resonator of sorts.... To my ear it took away a raspy engine noise. Total volume at idle/cruising (can't here the engine) or WOT didn't change appreciably, just the engine sound from under the hood.

This is what the OEM  " noisemaker " looks like . It is mounted on the left side of the engine or passenger side .

so it takes away a raspy engine sound ? so does the engine sound better, louder, or just different w/o it ?

I like it better... inside the car at least.. sound is is smoother and maybe a little deeper. Of course everyone hears things a little differently and preferences vary too.

I haven't had anyone to rev it up or drive it by me... and the thing is on the high pressure side of the front turbo.. so the best check is with it driving asking for torque so turbos spool up and blow through the noisemaker... or don't after deletion.

hmmm

might try to modify mine to remove it ha ha

dremel, big rubber elbow over it, and some big hose / intake clamps :)

I bet I have some parts laying around from doing my Expedition full K&N intake intake I can use to make it work and not be ugly.

$240.00 for the pipe from TB to intercooler to eliminate the noise maker + shipping costs.

Here you go if you want to order one!

I did some bad math last night $190.00 (still kind of expensive but better)

the noisemaker comes right off the intake tube can we just remove it and cap the hole in the intake ?

might need bigger chair leg caps though lol

It is just a nipple with a hole after the noise maker is removed... I suppose you could.  I would recommend high temp silicon and consider good clamp for that since it is on the high pressure pipe entering the throttlebody.

The one thing to consider is that replacing the tube leading to the throttlebody with a smooth wall tube not only removes the noisemaker, but by smoothing the place where the nipple enters the pipe you will eliminate any unusual vortices in compressed air flow to the throttlebody and the aproximately 1.5 x 2" cylindrical nipple opening cavity.  These are factors that will accumulate any recirculated exhaust gas and contents (from your pcv valve).
I do not know if they might condense here and cause liquid to enter the throttle body, but it would be one of my concerns.  :dunno:

While we are wishing if I had access to lathe. I would make a aluminum slug with a O-ring land and a land for the hair pin that holds it in.
