Dumb question? The stock air box is sealed off and it helps to keep the heat off. Now the k&n and air raid cai is an open box and letting the heat from the engine absorb into the cai. How does this help the performance.

To me, just a drop in airfilter sealed up in the box would be a better choice. Just my thought

Check the downpipes thread linked below and read back a few postsalso...
There are a number of variables including time to heat saturation... 4DR and I will be testing these vaery things with temp and dyno..  We hope to have a real life answer to your question among others so we'll all be smarter
