need more info !

I'd buy one if it will let me keep boost to redline / shift point with my LMS tune, but it seems like LMS scrapped the XV1 tune because they couldn't get the tune to safely hold boost to redline / shift point with out causing issues somewhere else ???

for the most part (except some occasional hesitation) I'm happy with my current tune from a dead stop but I dont see much boost at speed since it bleeds off in the higher revs.
2013 PP SHO LMS 93V10 tune, 170* T stat, 3bar, K&N drop in, plugs re-gapped, 4in exhaust tips.
UPDATE - 130K miles =blown engine. Unleashed tune and EBPP upgrade turbo billet wheels / Turbo Smart WGA's on a bran new long block. Let's get this SHO on the road !

2013 Fusion Titanium 2.0 EB daily driver ;) - LMS 93 tune and CPE intercooler

My exact question....
If you have a custom tune already..
And then you increase the boost..it sounds like a disaster about to happen.. The tune already increases the boost to higher "safe/tested" boost levels and then if you increase it more????
Or I'm just not understanding??

My biggest question exactly BMC... Is it safe? Plus, after reading the catalog pages I wonder if it works with tunes other than JMS?
It would also seem a cinch that you'd likely need hotpipes to prevent turbo leaks at the very least.

Torrie, what can you tell us on these issues?

So I guess I need this explained to me exactly what benefits this gives you when a custom tune is already in play?

Hey Torrie,

Any thoughts on tranny issues?  I am not an expert, but without the firmer shifts when using this stand alone, could their be issues with slippage?  Along with that, any concerns on line pressures at part throttle?  I toasted a tranny in a 96 Z-28 due to an overly oiled K&N, so things like this scare me a bit.  I have to say if this pans out, I REALLY want it :)

Thanks

If you want transmission tuning as well your best option then would be to go with custom tuning. This device in itself allows you to increase boost.

The calibration will need to be adjusted to use this correctly in the event you have a custom tune already. Otherwise it works safely with the factory calibration.

If you read the catalog page provided it states it "compatible with JMS Custom Tunes"....is that accurate? (I would hope it is being from their catalog and all). And does that imply ONLY JMS Tunes?

No, I can make adjustments with my calibrations to work in tandem with this device.

Device Facts: it is a microprocessor controlled device that works well with the stock ecu.

Is BoostMAX as good as an aftermarket calibration? NO.

Does a ecoboost function better than stock with BoostMAX: YES.

BoostMAX was designed for two purposes:

1)  Work alone on a stock ecoboost to Add additional power without ruining the way the car drives and without voiding your factory warranty.

2) When you buy the optional remote knob...it Is a stackable product that works along with a custom SCT ecu calibration.  Use the knob to adjust the boost level....on the fly.

So does this offer anything over the performance of a custom tune? More boost? More nobs?

So..... If you were going to run this set up with a custom tune.. Would the tune actually be set up with a lower boost setting to give you the ability to increase or decrease boost?

Because if the tune is already set up at "Maximum" performance levels and then you turned up the boost... Wouldn't that be bad??
I'm assuming a custom tune from whomever... Is set up for the maximum performance the vehicle can safely handle..

Now it's making sense..
So my next question is....
What benefit would I have by running lower boost at times when I'm not getting in trouble? (I'm not going to track.)

Well yes if you had the desire at times to limit power in that regard.
