A gooder twin turbo?

Before I literally stumbled into my SHO, I was intending to stumble into a Cadillac CTS. The twin turbo pumps 420 ponies from the factory. This YouTube makes the juices flow for caddy again. But realistically, I would have wait a couple years. Since I never buy new cars anymore. A rapid decline in value when you drive off the lot. Anyway, you judge.

that cadillac is 76k msrp in canada so unfair to compare. My sho feels like my wife but some sexy ladies give me some good looks for a little more cash. the Audi S4, Pontiac G8 GXP, SS Camaro and SRT Jeep.
Im a sucker for awd and I beat the crap out of my sables for years and they never left me stranded. so with the ford i went.

For a new one. $80K fully equipped (except no blutooth available to listen to Pandora, etc.)....... It is very sweet ride, a little harder to get in and out for an old guy like me,...I drove several CTS Vs (also Audi, Lexus, and C7) before going SHO..... better buy a lease return or used if you want one in a couple of years.... I looked hard.  My decision points were close, but I can destroy a fully equipped and modded SHO at 400+ AWHP and replace it (including mods) for the cost of a comparably equipped new CTS V or Vsport.  That said, I do like them...definitely sweet!

For now, I'm in this platform... and I bet by 2015 Ford has factory HP above 400.  The 3.5 EB has a lot of headroom as far as tuning and plumbing. EB  and others have hit 600+AWHP in a 3.5 TT EB and used it for years, including racing and DD in the same car without compromising the engine.

Just the rambling thoughts of an old guy.

Its going to be interesting when they come out with the taurus on the fusion platform. Especiially with the Impala SS coming out soon. Ive always wondered why there isnt a srt6 avenger with that new pentastar.

It will be interesting.  Ford seems to have done a good job with the fusion (except for the engine fires). I'll be honest though...
I had cars in the late '60s and '70s that had hoods almost as long as my SHO (like my El Dorado coupe) and a car this size was compact or small midsize.
One thing I enjoy about the SHO is the stability and "big car feel" that 4450LBS + fuel and occupants gives...tight, but like it is stuck to the road. It is easy to get in and out of, it's quiet (when I can control my right foot!), has a functional back seat, and a cavernous trunk..... That being said... I hope it stays what is currently considered a big and relatively car, which the fusion isn't,  and still a performance sleeper.  Even if it means I'm driving the Crown Vic of today for a while.

For me, no wife. Therefore I can get whatever toys I desire almost. I always said I can buy ANY car I want for 30 days. Then, they will come looking for it. But I had '05 CTS that drove like it was on rails. Tight chassis. This new one was just so much more power out the box. Most M5, GS 350, Infiniti, Mercedes E class would all have to take a back seat on performance. But as was said, launching being the biggest problem.

If/when Ford ups the ante on the SHO, then what? Maybe a 4L engine pushing the same 450+ hp. And AWD would be hard to beat. Gotta start saving cash now!

The AWD when I found this SHO was definitely the deal maker for me. Bought for $17k fully loaded. SO hard to say no.

Hard to predict what Ford will do, we all know that.  I'm betting on a better tune for the 3.5TT in the SHO  Tuning alone is getting many, if not most folks to just about the 330-350 WHP mark...then we can start with bolt-on mods giving 10-20 WHP here and there for DPs, CAIs, etc and a buch more for bigger turbos.

The V is a different animal... Put an LT1 drivetrain in a go cart and you get a missile!... not to discount it as I almost bought one this fall. I've seen a few modded with 4 digit hp ratings.

When we talk about the V-Sport, closer to apples and apples, the 425 hp GM claims is flywheel/crankshaft hp... So a roughly figure 425 X 0.8 = 340 WHP.  Maybe we'll see a new power plant, maybe we'll see Ford wring another100+ hp from the 3.5 EB.

I just hope Ford can keep the price point so an average guy can get one without an 8 year car note and living on pork and beans.... BTW I do have a wife and if you're right she's gonna kill me!!! LOL

I think car and driver dyno'd the cadi and it put down 400whp as to what kind of dyno, I don't know but I was impressed

What I would like to see is the Lincoln brand get back into the HP game.  That's where it is apples-to-apples.  Ford can EASILY match power with any mass production mfr out there, just a matter of strategy.  Also, please, Ford, work really hard on bringing your transmissions out of the dark ages.  Stop teasing us with glimpses like this AWD!
2007 Ford Edge SEL, Powerstop F/R Brake Kit, TXT LED 6000K Lo & Hi Beams, W16W LED Reverse Bulbs, 3BSpec 2.5w Map Lights, 5W Cree rear dome lights, 5W Cree cargo light, DTBL LED Taillights

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

There is a difference in insurance in 350hp vs 420 hp? I think that is why the cadi also has a 'vSPORT' badge with the keyword being Sport. I am sure if theres Sport in the name, it gives the insurance a reason to raise the price.

I stand corrected; the XTS only put down 349/362 tq. The CTS with the same engine, mounted longitude  put down 388/435. Impressive, it is only a 8% loss.

That is funny!  I was driving a Pontiac 6000 S/E  back then. Wasn't too bad for a car then.

When I first bought my sho I realized why I liked it so fast. My favorite car in highschool was dodge stealth I drooled over the 0 to 60 numbers and the turbos. Then I sort of connected the dots. V6 twin turbo awd.
